ARNING
Always check if your brakes are in good condition and if they have enough power to stop the added weight.
Don't forget that your braking distance is longer when you are cycling with a trailer. The more weight you are
carrying, the longer are your braking distances.
2. Assembly
Your Aevon trailer is not assembled for the shipment. You have to assemble some parts before using your
Aevon trailer. The following description will help you to do it without any problem.
A. STD 100 / STD 120 / KIT L80
1- Take all parts out of the carton.
2- Check that the bearings are in place.
Figure b.
3- Place the washer (0, 1 or 2 depending on model range) between the swing arm and the frame.
Mount the swing arm on the frame. In order to help you, you may use the following trick: place some
grease on the surface of the washers to keep them in place during the next step. Then take care to
place the chamfers side of the washers on the side from which you will insert the axe.
Figure b.
4- Mount the longest Ø10mm axe with an Allen key number 5 and a socket wrench number 13mm. Use
a torque wrench to do this operation. Maximum torque: 16Nm.
Figure b'.
5- Mount the shock absorber upside down (plunger on the top) on the frame. Depending on your use,
you can mount it in one of the 4 positions. To fix it, use the 8mm axe. You need an Allen key number
4 and a socket wrench number 10mm. Maximum torque is 8Nm.
Figure c.
6- Fix the bottom of the shock absorber to the swing arm by using the quick release.
Figure d.
7- Mount the tow bar on the frame. Fix it with the 2 CHC M8 screws (Allen key number 6). Maximum
torque is 18Nm.
Figure e. & e'.
8- If the hitch is not mounted yet at the end of the tow bar, you will have to assemble it. First, place the 2
washers of 10 mm of each side of the black composite hitch and introduce it in the yoke of the tow
bar. Then introduce the 10mm short axe from the right side of the trailer (when looking from the back)
and lock it with the M10 nut. You need an Allen key number 5 and a socket wrench number 13mm.
When it is screwed, this part must stay free to turn but with a small resistance in order to avoid a play
at this place. Maximum torque is 8Nm. To finish, plug the black plastic end-cap on the nut.
Figure g.
9- In the case of the KIT L80, mount the 2 tubes on each side of the frame. First pass through the tubes
and through the frame with the elastic, tight it a little bit and then make a knot.
Figure h., h'. & h''.
10- Then mount the fender, the back wheel and the security flag. Depending on the model, the security
flag can be mounted between the hub and the swing arm or on some other version the flag is
mounted with the quick release on the left side of the swing arm.
Figure i., i' & j.
11- Check that everything is correctly assembled and that no play occurs in any place. Check that the
wheel turns free.
12- Adjust the air pressure of the shock. The pressure depends on the load you want to carry. Loaded,
25% to 30% of travel must be already used (preload).
Tab. 1.
13- You can now hitch your trailer to your bike or tandem. First remove your seat post from your bike and
clean it correctly. Then put the black aluminium ring on the seat post but don't lock it yet. Slide your
seat post first in the hitch and then in the o-ring. After that put your seat post in place in your bike
frame. Adjust the height of your seat and finally lock the black ring, but take care to let a gap of
0,5mm between the ring and the trailer link to make sure that your trailer can turn correctly around
the seat post.
Figure k.
14- After the first few kilometres, check that everything is correctly screwed.
