TUNING YOUR KITE
POWER MANAGEMENT PRINCIPLES
To ensure the kite is well balanced while flying, always make sure the 4 lines of the bar are of equal
length. Do to so, hold the bar all the way down along the depowerline, ease the trim system to the
max and ask someone to pull on the lines to extend them fully. The tip of the 4 lines should arrive
at the same distance with equal tension. You can adjust the length of the back lines by moving the
floats up in order to access the setting.
You should not be riding with arms fully extended (or kitebar all the way up) all the time as you
would then have no further depower in the kite if a gust arises. If you need to reduce the power of
your kite you can:
• Pull on the trim line to shorten the front lines.
• Extend the length of the back lines (depending on the possibilities allowed by your bar).
If you need to increase the power of your kite you can:
• Ease the trim line to bring back the front lines to normal length.
• Shorten the length of the back lines (depending on the possibilities allowed by your bar).
CAUTION: BE AWARE THAT CHANGING THE LENGTH OF THE LINES
HAS CONSEQUENCES ON THE MANEUVERABILITY
AND BEHAVIOR OF THE KITE.
A ram air kite generates power and becomes maneuverable only if it's traveling at speed through the
air. If it is stopped at the zenith, it is necessary to let the kite generate some early speed by acting
gently on the bar before steering the kite harder. If the wing tips collapse during a maneuver, this
means the kite is flying too slow to react properly to the steering command.

DIFFERENT THINGS TO DO WHEN YOU GET TO THE BEACH
Closing the deflation valve.
When your kite is still rolled, you will find an opening at the centre of the trailing edge for deflating
your kite easily. Remember to close the Velcro before launching your kite. To do this, simply fold
the valve back into the inside of the kite, press the two edges together and slide your fingers whilst
tightening firmly.
Unrolling your kite.
You must first determine the direction of the wind and then unroll your kite in the direction of the wind.
Put some sand on the wingtip towards the wind to hold it down.

Checking the bridle.
It is time to unfold the bridle and check that there are no knots, no wrong routing or crossing especially
at the level of the Kite Depower System.
In case of twisted lines.
