1. Introduction
The Megalodon range provides an "all-in-one" antenna solution for 2x 5G/4G radios with 2x 4x4 MiMo
antenna systems covering 617-960/1427-6000MHz within a robust low profile package. Versions of the
antenna can include a number of other functions including single/dual band GPS/GNSS and up to 8x8 MiMo
WiFi elements covering 2.4-7.2GHz (WiFi 6e/7).
The antenna is designed to be panel mounted and can be fitted on a conductive or non-conductive panel.
Supplied with integrated flame retardant low-loss CS30 cables (Compliant to UN ECE R118) and a halogen
free,flame retardant radome, the antenna is suitable for many environments and applications, including public
safety and transportation. The LGM variants have an integrated GPS/GNSS module supporting either L1 only or
L1/L5 frequencies. Both modules feature advanced filtering for LTE B13/14 designed to minimise potential inband
interference.
Electrical Safety Note
LGM[X]M8[X]-6-60 series contain single or multiple active L1 band GPS/GNSS antennas.
Rated voltage: 3-5VDC Rated current (each antenna): 20mA maximum.
LG5M[X]M8[X]-6-60 series contain single or multiple active L1/L5 band GPS/GNSS anten-
nas. Rated voltage: 3-5VDC Rated current (each antenna): 37mA maximum.
The supply to these devices must be provided with over current protection of 1A maximum.
2. Mounting requirements and selecting location
For optimum performance, it is recommended that all versions of the antenna are fitted on a conductive (metal)
panel, although it is possible to mount the antenna on a non-conductive panel with acceptable performance for
all the internal antenna functions.

- Page 2 Select a mounting location, checking for roof curvature to ensure that the antenna base will have a flat mounting surface if possible. The antenna should be located as far as possible from surrounding roof mounted items (e.g. light bar, air con unit). Ensure that there is adequate under panel clearance and that there is no double skin panel or cross brace present.
- Page 3 5. Routing and terminating coaxial cables Plan the coaxial cable route to the wireless device to avoid running adjacent to any existing electrical wiring. If heat shrink tubes are to be used, slide onto antenna cable tails prior to connecting extension cables – it is recommended that these are heat shrunk only after tests have been satisfactorily completed.
