N.B. THE SPEAKING VALVE MUST NEVER BE USED
IN COMBINATION WITH AN INFLATED CUFFED
CANNULA WITHOUT FENESTRATION. ENSURE

who have respiratory infection, extensive phlegm, stenosis, vocal cord
paralysis or acute airway obstructions. This device is not for use with
inline ventilators, endotracheal tubes or other artificial airways.
The COVER (5) is provided with a tapered section which is seated in
the valve HOUSING (3) during use. The further pressed in, the tighter
the cover is secured. Avoid pressing the cover too hard, as it reduces the
valve's life and makes it difficult to remove.
DAILY CHECKS: Check valve operation daily and inspect for damage.
Replace valve with new unit in the case of damage or defective operation.
NEVER DISASSEMBLE THE MEMBRANE!
CLEAN the valve daily. Do not use sharp tools. Use the fingers or
PLASTIC TWEEZERS (P/N 705, sold separately) to remove/re-insert
the filter. The valve housing and cover shall be air dried after washing
with luke-warm water and mild fragrance-free detergent. Rinse the valve
cover in both directions to remove all cleaning liquids. Other detergents
or solvents must not be used. Always check the operation again after
cleaning and check that the air passages are free. Do not wash and re-use
the filter!
The valve should always be used with FILTER (4) (P/N 740, sold
separately). THE FILTER SHOULD BE REPLACED daily or more
frequently if required. Ensure that the filter is seated evenly against the
bottom of the valve housing, and that air flow through the filter is not
obstructed by phlegm or other substances.
