REAR BAGGING OPERATION)

NOTE: When using the grass catcher, the mulching door
should be locked in the open position.
Remove start key and battery packs.
Lift the rear discharge door.
Lift the grass catcher by its handle and place under the
rear discharge door so that the hooks on the grass catcher
are seated onto the slots on the mower housing.
Release the rear discharge door.
Reinstall start key and battery packs when you are ready
to mow.
USING THE MULCHING DOOR
(FOR MULCHING OPERATION)
See Figure 7.
NOTE: The mulching door should be locked in the closed
position for mulching. When using the mulching door, do not
install the grass catcher.
Remove start key and battery packs.
Lift and hold the locking lever.
Slide the mulch door lever to the other side of the mower
as shown.
Release the locking lever and make sure it has securely
locked the mulch door lever into place.
Reinstall start key and battery packs when you are ready
to mow.
To stop mulching, lift and hold the locking lever and return
the mulch door lever to its original position.
NOTE: Be sure the locking lever is locked securely in
place in either position before using the mower.
WARNING:
Do not allow familiarity with products to make you care-
less. Remember that a careless fraction of a second is
sufficient to inflict serious injury.
WARNING:
Always wear eye protection with side shields marked to
comply with ANSI Z87.1. Failure to do so could result in
objects being thrown into your eyes resulting in possible
serious injury.
ASSEMBLY
INSTALLING THE SIDE DISCHARGE CHUTE
See Figure 8.
The mower comes with the spring-loaded side discharge
chute cover already in place. If side discharge is desired,
install the side discharge chute. The mulching door should
be locked in the closed position for side discharge.
Remove start key and battery pack.
Lift and hold the side discharge cover.
Insert the side discharge chute as shown, aligning the two
notches with the tabs on each side of the side discharge
cover.
Lower the side discharge cover until the tabs are seated
into the notches on the side discharge chute.
Reinstall start key and battery pack when you are ready
to mow.
SETTING BLADE HEIGHT
See Figure 9.
When shipped, the blades on the mower are set to a low-
cutting position. Before using the mower for the first time,
raise the cutting position to the height best suited for your
lawn. The average lawn should be between 1-1/2 in. to 2 in.
during cool months and between 2 in. and 3-1/4 in. during
hot months.
To adjust the blade height:
Remove the start key and battery packs.
To raise the blade height, grasp the height adjustment
handle and move it toward the back of the mower.
NOTE: Use the scale on top of the mower deck to select
the appropriate blade height.
To lower the blade height, grasp the height adjustment
handle and move it toward the front of the mower.
Reinstall the start key and battery packs when you are
ready to mow.
