User manual
CONNECT-5
is
Its purpose is to recall pre-programmed welding configurations (JOB) between two TIG welding beads and to
start welding. Depending on the product, the console or PLC will be connected to the remote control connector
(foot pedal, hand control) or to an internal connector via a hatch dedicated to product automation.
With this automation mode, the PLC can:
- Start and stop the welding cycle.
- Recall up to 5 JOBs previously stored in the TIG station or operate in the current context.
- Fine-tune/adjust the current using a potentiometer (aim: to fine-tune the JOBs and fine-tune the current -- during welding by ±15%).
- Receive ARC ON information when the arc is established during welding.
- Be automatically recognised by the welding machine without operator manipulation.
CONNECT-5 CONSTRAINTS
The CONNECT-5 mode only works in TIG DC or TIG AC, it is not possible to recall JOBs from different processes.
JOB ALLOCATION
The allocation of JOBs for Connect-5 is described in the product manuals.

Comment
10V power supply provided by the soldering station,
enabling only the potentiometers or resistor network to
be connected.
Analogue input for JOB selection.
This value can be set using a potentiometer, a relay
box or even an analogue PLC output, depending on
the product.

Recommendation
This power supply is not suitable for other uses,
as it is not continuous.
- PROG = [0V - 1.5V] -> JOB 0
corresponds to the current context
- PROG = [1.6V - 3.3V] -> JOB 1
- PROG = [3.4V - 5V]
- PROG = [5.1V - 6.6V] -> JOB 3
- PROG = [6.7V - 8.3V] -> JOB 4
- PROG = [8.4V - 10V] -> JOB 5
Dry contact required on the PLC side
A short-circuit between E and C will enable the Connect-5
to be recognised when the power source is switched on,
without opening a user dialogue window.
A resistance value between 10 kΩ and 100 kΩ is recom-
mended.
The Pull_Up resistance (R_PU) must be at least 10 kΩ
(100 kΩ is recommended).
During a welding cycle, ARC ON is at 0 as long as the arc
is lit (from I_Start to I_Stop).
ARC ON is at 1 when the arc is extinguished (during the
PreGas and PostGas phases and also in the event of arc
breakage due to a fault).
