4 Utilisation and adjustment
4.1 Utilisation and adjustment
This can be adjusted to suit the thickness of the object and the selected
magnification (option, see accessories at the end of the manual), with the help
of the rear knurled knob, to be unscrewed while holding the body of the
magnifier.
4.2 Objectives and eyepieces
The wide field eyepieces x 10 are maintained in position by screws, in order to
prevent loss or accidental fall. Their range of separation is adjustable from 51
to 75 mm.
The left eyepiece holder is fitted with a dioptre setting ring(± 5 mm) : set the
focus for the right eye (see below), then without disturbing the focus, observe
with the left eye and turn the ring until a clear image is obtained.
4.3 Focussing
The instrument can be adjusted either with the right or the left hand by the dual
control for the rack and pinion system which is located on both sides of the
column. At the end of travel, the ring of each control knob slips without driving
the pinion, thus preventing any deterioration of the rack.
4.4 Change in magnification
By a simple rotation of the turret, we can move from the objectives x 2 to the
objectives x 4 without altering the focus.
A screwdriver is needed to change the eyepiece. Note: Do not lose the fixing
screws. Various pairs of eyepieces x 5, x 15, x 20 form part of the list of
accessories.
5 Maintenance
5.1 Protection from dust
After use, immediately place the dust cover on the instrument. If dust has
fallen on the lenses, use a syringe or a rubber bulb blower or a sable brush:
the lenses are fragile and dust can cause scratches.
5.2 Finger marks
Do not touch the lenses. In case of fingerprints remove them with the help of a
soft cloth soaked in xylene.
