This term refers to the ratio of image height and
image width.
AVL
Automatic Volume Limiting
Brightness
This control defines the general brightness level of
the image.
Contrast
Sets the optical density and the sound of the tone
of the image
Component audio inputs
Are used for the normal analogue audio connection
between devices.
HDMI
High Definition Multimedia Interface. This connection
enables a high quality uncompressed digital video and
audio signal. Audio and video signals are generated
via a single connection.
NTSC
NTSC is a video television standard used throughout
North America and several other countries.
OSD
On Screen Display - information about the channel
number and volume are shown on the TV set.
PAL
PAL is a video television standard encoding system
used in Europe.
SECAM
Is a video format similar to PAL used in France and
some other countries.
Scart
Audio-/Video-connection with21 pins, used mainly for
TV sets in Europe
Sharpness
A control which generates the effect of a bigger
resolution thanks to dark/bright transitions.
System
Defines the mode of transmission of a TV image,
due to the fact that the mode of transmission is not
the same in all countries.
VGA
VGA is a common standard for graphics display
on PCs.
LPCM
Short for Pulse Code Modulation, a digital audio
signal.
MPEG
Short for Moving Picture Experts Group. International
standard for the compression of moving pictures. On
some DVDs the digital audio signals are compressed
and recorded in this format.
