PRECAUTlONS FOR USE AND lNSTALLATlON
It is recommended that a bypass be installed at the installation entrance in order to facilitate maintenance. In order
to re-circulate chemical products during maintenance the corresponding connection and valves must be included.
The unit must never be put into operation without the radiation chamber either being full of water or completely
empty.
The unit should be switched off if the water flow is going to be permanently stopped (in this condition the lamps
would raise the water temperature that could cause injury to persons and/or damage to equipment).
The equipment must be installed horizontally; otherwise component might be irreversibly damaged.
The unit should be switched on one minute before allowing the flow to be treated to pass; this is to enable the lamp to
reach its operating temperature and optimum emission (the time will depend on the water temperature).
It is recommended that a pressure and flow rate limiting device be installed (treatment maximum).
In order to prevent or reduce electrolysis corrosion effects, the water inlet and outlet connections must be stainless steel
or a dielectric material (for example, PVC).
Since the employed UV lamps contain mercury, their recycling shall be in accordance with the legislative
procedure in each zone covering mercury-containing waste.
It is recommended that the Sterilix equipment be installed as close as possible to its point of use.
Correct system disinfecting must be guaranteed downstream.

EQUlPMENT MAlNTENANCE
·
The lamps should be replaced after their useful lifetimes (8,000 hours). The fact that the lamp continues to shine
after its useful lifetime does not guarantee that it is emitting sufficient UV radiation to ensure correct treatment of the
water flow.
·
The quartz sleeves should be dismantled and cleaned every three to six months with alcohol or detergent and
replaced every 24 months.
·
Before putting into operation and periodically thereafter (three to four months), the equipment should be disinfected
by allowing KALAPHOS BIOCLEAN to circulate at ten ml per litre of water to be disinfected.
This operation must never be performed with the equipment in operation.
KALAPHOS BIOCLEAN has a descaling effect that will lengthen the maintenance period for the quartz sleeves.
