In the UK a chimney passing through an outside wall must have
a non-combustible continuous wall sleeve surrounding the chimney
passing through the wall. Ref FOURREAU – TZ
When passing through an external cavity wall:
• The Twinwall chimney section must be installed within a wall sleeve.
• If the wall is combustible, the Gxx dimension must be respected.
• In accordance with Building Regulations ADA clause 2C28, the size and position
of a hole in the external supporting walls should not impair the stability of the walls,
construction over openings should be adequately supported e.g. by use of a suitable
proprietary builders lintel and or equal.
• When passing through a combustible wall the Gxx clearance to combustibles
must be respected.
