7. Recommendations and Suggestions
7.1. Energy saving
Install the appliance correctly: that is, away from sources of heat, direct sunlight, and in a well-ventilated place.
Optimal cooling: place the temperature control in a medium setting.
Excessive cold, in addition to consuming a lot of energy, does not improve or prolong the preservation of foods.
Close the lid: open the appliance the minimum number of times possible, because each time you open it, a part
of the cold air comes out. To reset the temperature, the engine must work a long time and consume a lot of energy.
Check the lid seal: keep the seal clean and exible so that is seals well and avoids energy losses.
Check the ice formation on the inner walls: When the ice layer on the inner walls becomes too thick, defrost the
appliance (see the chapter on "Product Maintenance").
Always ensure good ventilation (air inlet and outlet): Do not cover the vents and ventilation grills.
Correct storage of foods: place the foods by types.
Keep all foods well packed and closed: thus avoiding ice formation.
Placing hot foods: let foods cool at room temperature rst. If the appliance has a thick ice layer: defrost the appli-
ance.
Grill cleaning: clean the dust accumulated on the refrigerating unit, heat exchanger and metal grill on the back
wall of the appliance (yearly intervals).
7.2. Recommendations for freezing and storage
- Foods frozen by the user must be portioned appropriately for domestic consumption. So that they freeze
quickly and all the way to the centre, the following portion quantities should not be exceeded: Fruit and vegeta-
bles: 1 kg, Meat: 2.5 kg
- For fast freezing, place the foods in such a way as to leave them in contact with the inner walls.
- For packing, use freezer bags available on the market and reusable plastic, metal or aluminium containers.
- Make sure that fresh foods are not placed in contact with already frozen food. The packaging must be dry,
so it doesn't stick to other packaging.
- Always label the containers with the contents and date of freezing and do not exceed the recommended
storage period.
- Do not freeze bottles or cans containing carbonated drinks, as they may burst.
- When defrosting, remove only portions meant for immediate use. Defrosted foods must be cooked as soon
as possible.
Freezing Plan
The freezing plan is on the inner side of the lid (depending on the model). Indicates, by means of symbols, the prod-
uct to freeze and the storage time in months. The upper and lower limits for each group depend on the quality of
the foods, of any processing/cooking before freezing and on the quality requirements of the user. Lower values are
always applied to foods with a high fat content.
