Note: It may be desirable to build your island where the power burner is recessed 6-12 " lower than the
traditional countertop height. This can provide both a safer and a more comfortable environment while
cooking with larger pots. "The above referenced 16" of clearance to combustibles is applicable above
the countertop to adjacent side and rear walls to the outdoor kitchen only. Remember with this type of
installation, all construction including the area that surrounds the recessed burner must remain non-
combustible along with the entirety of the outdoor kitchen.
