This set of tools enables the precisely meted turning / pushing back of the piston to make room for servicing of the caliper
and replacement of worn brake pads in most disk brake systems, with and without ABS.
Note: All work on brake systems must be performed with painstaking attention to cleanliness and in precise adherence to
the process specifications issued by the respective vehicle manufacturer.
Pushing back the piston
If necessary, make room by removing the mounting bolts from the brake caliper. Place the pressure plate on the collar of
the guide bush, and slip the push-back adapter over the square end of the pressure screw.
Turn the guide bush to push the pressure plate up against the caliper and ensure that the adapter is precisely in line with
the piston (in order to avoid damage toithe rubber seal).
Then, turn the pressure screw to push the piston back into the housing.
Turning back the piston (in case of brake calipers with integrated parking brake)
If necessary, make room by removing the mounting bolts from the brake caliper. Place the pressure plate on the collar of
the guide bush, and slip the vehicle-appropriate turn-back adapter over the square end of the pressure screw.
Turn the guide bush to push the pressure plate up against the caliper and to engage the dog on the turn-back adapter in
the brake piston.
Then, tighten the pressure screw to push the piston back into the housing.
To facilitate mounting, the item-9 adapter (Citroen, no. 126-207)
has a 13-mm AF external drive. Hence, in divergence from the above procedure, a suitable (ratchet) wrench is needed for
turning back the piston.
Operation:
If the vehicle has brake, reset the brake piston by turning it back; for all other vehicles, reset the brake piston by pushing it
back.
