Transmission Oil Dipstick for Mercedes-Benz

INTENDED USE
This dipstick is used to measure transmission oil levels on Mercedes vehicles where no dipstick is provided.
The dipstick also fits on Jaguar models where a Mercedes gear box is fitted.
SAFETY INFORMATIONS
• Always read the instructions carefully before using the tool.
• This dipstick may only be used in accordance to the purpose and under the conditions provided.
• Follow the manufacturer's specifications. This manual is supposed to inform you about the tool itself and
does not replace specific servicing handbooks.
• Before use, make sure that the tool is in perfect condition.
• Regularly check the condition of the dipstick and replace a damaged dipstick directly.
• Inform yourself before use about the correct use of the oil dipstick taking into account the necessary
safety measures.
• Keep children and unauthorized persons away from the working area.
• Do not let children play with this tool or its packaging.
• Ensure the working area has adequate lighting.
• Keep working area clean and tidy, dry and free from unrelated materials.
• Do not allow untrained persons to use this tool kit.
• Only use oil which is approved by the vehicle manufacturer. Oil specifications can be found in the vehicle
owner's manual or in the vehicle-specific service literature.
• Close the dipstick tube properly after the measuring process. Oil dipstick tubes that are not properly
closed can lead to engine or gearbox damage.
• Only use a lint-free cloth to clean the dipstick, between and after the measuring procedures. Cleaning with
a different cloth may cause a malfunction and damage of the automatic transmission.
TRANSMISSIONS OIL LEVEL CHECK
Transmission 722.6 L / G / P / V, found in C-Class, CLK, S-Class, SL, Vito, Sprinter
Also fits Mercedes gearbox used in Jaguar models.
Red Dipstick, to be used as OEM 140 589 15 21 00
1. Remove dipstick tube cover
2. Fill transmission with required volume of ATF (consult manufacturers data)
3. Run engine, check ATF level and top up if required
4. Check ATF Temperature (via diagnostic equipment)
5. Check level of ATF as follows:
Cold range = 25°C = area marked A on dipstick
Hot range = 80°C = area marked B on dipstick
Note: Accurate measurement only possible at 80°C
Close the dipstick tube properly after the measuring process. Oil dipstick tubes that are not
properly closed can lead to gearbox damage.
Only use a lint-free cloth to clean the dipstick, between and after the measuring procedures.
