Install the ES-6000
1 Release the transport guard by moving the switch on the bottom of the instrument to the unlocked position.
2 If you want the power cable to extend from the side of the instrument that is opposite from where the power
supply connects to the instrument, lay the cable into the tray.
The tray prevents the cable from interfering with the moving page.
3 Connect the power supply.
4 For USB operation, connect the USB cable to the ES-6000 and to your computer.
5 For network operation, connect the Ethernet cable to the ES-6000 and to your network.
6 Turn on the power switch on the back of the ES-6000.
Configure the ES-6000 network address
For network operation, the ES-6000 and your computer must both be connected to the same subnet of your local
area network.
Note: For USB operation, you do not need to configure the network address.
The ES-6000 is automatically configured to use a dynamic IP address if a DHCP server is found on the network. No
manual configuration is needed.
If you want to use a static IP address instead, you can configure the ES-6000 with the Network Configuration
application provided on the DVD that is included in the ES-6000 kit. This application is also available from
support and
downloads. After registering, select Application Software and Tools, select ES-x000, select ES-6000
Configuration Tool v1.0, and click Find.
1 If the ES-6000 is connected to your computer, disconnect it.
2 Install the Network Configuration application on your computer and start the application.
3 Select the network adapter of your computer that will be used to connect to the ES-6000.
4 Type the static IP address, subnet mask, and gateway address values that you want to assign to the ES-6000, and
then click Apply.
All of the values must be specified. The static IP address and gateway address must be on the same subnet (the
first three of the four octets in each address must be the same). If you have no gateway address, use any IP address
that is on the same subnet. The subnet mask must be 255.255.255.0.
5 Connect your computer directly to the ES-6000 with the network cable and click OK.
6 After the configuration is completed, disconnect the network cable at both ends and click OK.
7 Turn the ES-6000 off and then on again.
The static IP address is set.
8 Connect your computer and the ES-6000 to your network.
To revert to using a dynamic IP address, press and hold the reset button that is located in the lower left corner of the
back of the ES-6000 for five seconds, and then turn the ES-6000 off and then on again.
Note: The button is inside a small hole. Use a thin object such as a straightened paper clip to press the button.
