To start a cold engine
1. Sit on the seat.
2. Make sure that the cutting deck is disengaged.
To engage and disengage the cutting

3. Put the cutting deck in transport position. Refer
To set the cutting deck in transport position or
to
mow position on page 13 .
4. Move the throttle control to the choke position.
5. Push down on the brake pedal fully and hold it
down.
6. Put the ignition key into the ignition.
7. Turn the ignition key to the "START" position and
release the ignition key when the engine starts.
CAUTION:
starter continuously for more than 15
seconds for each minute.
8. When the engine starts, move the throttle control
to the fast position (D) to warm up the engine.
If the temperature is low, some minutes is
necessary for the engine to get warm.
CAUTION:
temperature is less than 40° F (4°
C), you must let the engine operate
1 minute at idle speed before you
operate the product. This is to let the
transmission warm up. Make sure
that the motion control lever is in the
neutral position and that the brake
pedal is fully released.
To warm up the transmission in cold
weather
Note:
Before you use the product in cold weather,
warm up the transmission.
1. Put the product on a level surface.
2. Release the parking brake and slowly let the
brake pedal move up slowly.
3. Let the transmission warm up for one minute.
This can be done during the engine warm up
period.

4. After the transmission is warm, the attached
equipment can be used in the engine warm up
period. To do this it can be necessary to pull the
choke control out a small step.
To start the engine when the battery is
weak
WARNING:
make explosive gases. Keep sparks,
flames and smoking materials away from
batteries. Always wear eye protection
when around batteries.
If the battery is too weak to start the engine, it must
be charged.
If the jumper cables are used for emergency starting,
follow the procedures below:

1. Connect one end of the RED cable to the
POSITIVE (+) terminal of each battery (B-C).
CAUTION:
short circuit does not occur against
the chassis of the product.
2. Connect one end of the BLACK cable to the
NEGATIVE (-) terminal (D) of a fully charged
battery.
3. Connect the other end of the BLACK cable (A)
to good chassis ground, away from the fuel tank
and battery.
To remove the jumper cables
Note:
Remove the jumper cables in the opposite
sequence to how you connect them.
1. Remove the BLACK cable from the chassis.
2. Remove the BLACK cable from the fully charged
battery.
3. Remove the RED cable from the 2 batteries.

The cutting deck must be in transport position during
transportation.
