Intended Use
The product is intended to be installed in a PCI Express slot on a computer, where it provides
inputs and outputs for audio signals (line level). Furthermore, the plug-in card has a digital
(optical) audio output.

• If in doubt about how to install the device correctly, please contact an EXPERT or
a specialist workshop and let them do the installation!
Incorrect installation can cause damage to the plug-in card and also to your
computer and all connected devices.
Caution, lethal hazard!
Switch off the computer in which the plug-in card is to be installed, and all connected
devices, and disconnect all devices from the mains voltage, remove the plug from
the mains! Just turning off at the on/off switch is not enough!
• The product is only intended for installation and use in a computer housing.
• The unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the product is inadmissible
because of safety and approval reasons (CE).
• The product is not a toy and should be kept out of the reach of children.
• Do not leave packing materials unattended. They may become dangerous play-
things for children.
• Handle the product with care, it can be damaged by impacts, blows, or accidental
drops, even from a low height.
Installation
• Open your computer's housing and carefully remove the cover.
• Locate a free PCI Express slot, remove this slot's cover and insert the card into the PCI
Express slot. Screw the plug-in card firmly into place and make sure it is positioned correctly
in the slot!
• There are two differently sized four-pin connectors on the plug-in card. With an appropriate
adapter cable (not enclosed with the sound card; the cable is either delivered with the CD/DVD
drive or can be purchased separately), you can connect the analogue audio output from a
CD/DVD drive. Please refer to the section „Connection".
If necessary, secure the cable with cable ties so it cannot obstruct the fan in your computer.
• Then, close the housing of your computer.
• Connect your computer and monitor to the mains voltage and switch on all of the devices.
• If your computer does not start correctly, switch it off immediately and check all the settings
and cable connections.
It must be disconnected from the mains power supply before restarting, see above!

After Windows has started, it recognises the plug-in card automatically as new hardware. Cancel
the automatic recognition.

Place the enclosed CD into an appropriate drive on your computer.

Start the Windows file manager and start the installation programme in the directory mentioned
above.
It might be necessary to restart Windows, before the sound card is recognised correctly.

The analogue audio output from a CD/DVD drive can be connected to the the connectors J3 or
J5. Pay attention to the signal allocation printed on the plug-in card:
J3 = L-G-G-R
J5 = G-R-G-L
(L = left audio signal, R = right audio signal, G = GND/signal level)

At the time of issuing this operating manual, the driver was located as an installation
programme in the directory „Sound" and there, in the folder „VT1723".
Pay attention to the labelling on the connector for the plug-in card and the adapter
cable.
For playback of the specific analogue outputs, not only is an appropriate audio sig-
nal necessary but also software that can play this signal (e.g. DVD player software).

Audio signals are only present at the analogue audio output from a CD/DVD player
when a standard audio CD is played.
When DVDs, videos, MP3s or similar are played, no audio signal is present at the
output!
Electrical and electronic products do not belong in the household waste!
Please dispose of the device when it is no longer of use, according to the current
statutory requirements.
