Insert (1) 9V battery and replace the battery cover. You can also connect the 9V AC adapter to connect the scale to an outlet (Follow the outlet instructions outlined in this instruction manual) (Figure 1).

To eliminate the message, remove the item from the scale and try again, using an item within the confines of the scale’s capacity.
