n
GENERAL
When parked, vehicles may require a power supply (low or very low voltage). In the
event of an emergency departure, these supplies must be disconnected automatically.
S includes :(see Figure F1).
The RETTBOX
®
• a box equipped with a cover ;
• a manual ejection button (a)
• in 120 V AC, 240 V AC, and 480 V AC:
- a green voltage indicating LED (b), and
- a knock-out hole (c) allowing the assembly of an optional yellow
- indicating LED for the secondary voltage of the battery charger ;
• in 12 V DC and 24 V DC :
- a yellow voltage indicator LED (b);
• a vehicle inlet, keyed according to its assigned voltage:
12 V, 24 V, 120 V, 240 V, 480 V, equipped with :
- 4 live contacts (1/+, 2, 3, N/-);
- 1 earth (ground) contact,
- 2 auxiliary contacts (A, B), See table T2
• a portable socket-outlet ejection device ; See schematic diagram F3.
• a compatible portable socket-outlet (only compatible devices will mate).
Live parts are protected against the contact test finger (IP2X/IPXXB), according to
IEC/EN 60529 standard.
• The portable socket-outlet is ejected, and the cover is closed when the engine
is started.
n
WARNINGS
• Check that the vehicle-starter battery voltage matches the rated operating voltage
range of the ejector device (12-24 V). The operation of the RETTBOX
minimum voltage of 10.5 V.
• MELTRIC Corporation declines any responsibility in the event of non-observance of
applicable standards and instructions of the present document.
• MELTRIC devices must be used with MELTRIC complementary devices only.
Any repair or service must be achieved with genuine MARECHAL
• These devices must be installed and maintained by a qualified electrician.
• They must be installed on a vertical surface of the vehicle.
• Respect the recommended tightening torques (see Table T1). Apply without
excess the necessary torque to tighten self-tapping screws.
n
WIRING AND INSTALLATION
The contact terminals are spring assisted to prevent loosening due to
strand settlement, vibration, or thermal cycling.
BOX
Use the housing seal as a template for cutting and drilling the bodywork (Figure F2);
• Rivet the inserts using a blind rivet tool.
• Wire the box respecting the marking of the terminals. See Figure F4 and Table T1 ;
• Wire the LED indicating the presence of supply voltage on the terminals of
contacts 1/- and N/+;
• Wire the ejection device to the terminals of the vehicle starter, in 14 AWG minimum ;
• Pass the conductors under the elastic tape (see Figure F5) and assemble the rear
cover of the housing. Assemble the housing and its seal on the body.
n
CONNECTOR
• Pass the cable or flexible conduit through the handle. Respect the marking
of the terminals.
• Adjust the length of the cable/conduit to prevent the connector from falling to the
ground when it is ejected.
n
OPERATION
• Rotate the cover and keep it open ;
• Insert the portable socket-outlet and push it into the inlet until it latches. The voltage
indicator lights on and the vehicle is powered ;
• When the engine starts, the connector is ejected and the cover closes.
• To disconnect the connector manually, an eject button is accessible on the front
(Figure F1, item a).

MAINTENANCE
• Ensure that the fixing screws and cable glands are tight.
• Connector : verify that the weight of the cable is supported by the strain relief
mechanism and not by the terminal connections.
• Check the cleanliness of contacts. Any deposit can be rubbed off with a clean cloth
or compressed air.
• Inspect periodically IP gaskets for wear and resilience. Replace as required.
• Regularly check the continuity of the earth circuit by electric tests.
n
RESPONSIBILITY
MELTRIC Corporation's responsibility is strictly limited to the obligations expressly
agreed in its general sales conditions.

MAINTENANCE
Before inspecting, repairing, or maintaining MELTRIC products,
WARNING
disconnect electrical power to the receptacle to eliminate the risk of
DANGER
electrical shock.
CAUTION
NOTICE
MELTRIC products require little on-going maintenance. However, it is a good practice
ADVERTENCIA
to periodically perform the following general inspections:
DANGER
• Check the mounting screws for tightness.
CAUTION
• Verify that the weight of the cable is supported by the strain relief mechanism and
AVISO
not by the terminal connections.
• Check the IP gaskets for wear and resiliency.
Replace as required.
• Verify the electrical continuity of the ground circuit.
• Check the contact surfaces for cleanliness and pitting.
Deposits of dust or similar foreign materials can be rubbed off the contacts with a
clean cloth. Sprays should not be used, as they tend to collect dirt. If any significant
pitting of the contacts or other serious damage is observed, the device should be
replaced.
Receptacle contacts may be inspected by a qualified electrician. This should only be
done with the power off. It is accomplished by depressing the numbered ring around
the circumference of the interior on two opposite points. This will allow the shutter to
be manually turned clockwise as required to permit access to the contacts. Once the
inspection is complete, the shutter must be rotated counter-clockwise until it is locked
in the closed position.
