Instructions for Use
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
When using a battery operated appliance, basic safety precautions should always be
followed, including the following: Read all instructions before using the appliance.
WARNING - To reduce the risk of injury to persons:
1. The trimmer should always be turned on before initiating the trimming action to
prevent potentially binding nose or ear hairs in the cutting unit.
2. Do not use this trimmer with a damaged or broken cutting unit as injury may occur.
3. Close supervision is necessary when this trimmer is used by, on, or near children
or invalids.
4. Use this trimmer for its intended household use as described in this manual.
Do not use attachments not recommended by Philips Electronics Ltd.
5. Always store your trimmer in a moisture-free environment. Do not store trimmer
in temperatures exceeding 54˚C.
6. Never operate this trimmer if it is not working properly, if it has been dropped,
damaged, or submerged in water. Return the trimmer to an authorized Philips
service location for examination and repair.
7. If trimmer is not used on a regular basis, remove battery to prevent possible dam-
age due to chemical leakage. If the battery does leak, remove it carefully. Do not
allow bare skin to touch leaking fluid.
8. Never drop or insert any object into any opening.
9. Dispose of used battery properly. Do not incinerate. Battery may explode if over-
heated. Do not wrap in metal or aluminium foil.Wrap in newspaper before discard-
ing. It is suggested that you contact your local town/city to determine proper bat-
tery redemption site(s) in your area.
10. Do not attempt to recharge alkaline, heavy-duty or regular batteries in a nickel
cadmium battery charger.

Battery Installation & Replacement
1. Hold the trimmer upside down. Rotate the battery cover counter-
clockwise until the cover unlocks from the trimmer (fig. 1).
2. Insert one "AA" 1.5V alkaline battery into the compartment positive
side up (fig. 2).
3. Replace the battery cover and turn clockwise to snap into place.
NOTE: Replace battery when it begins to get weak to avoid pulling hairs.

Trimming
1. Remove the protective cap by pulling it off the trimmer. Switch the trimmer on.
2. Do not use the trimmer with a damaged or broken cutting unit as injury may occur.
Trimming Nose Hair
1. Make sure nasal passages are clean.
2. Slowly move the cutting head in and out of each nostril to remove
unwanted hair (fig. 3). CAUTION: Do not insert tip more than
1/4" into nostril.
3. For best results, make sure the side of the tip is held firmly against
the skin.This will reduce the tickling effect that can occur.
4. Clean trimmer tip immediately after using.
Trimming Ear Hairs
1. Clean outer area of ear and make sure it is free of wax.
2. Pull ear flat to head with one hand and hold trimmer with the other hand.
3. Turn trimmer on and move tip around edges of ear to remove hair
extending beyond the outer ear.Then carefully insert tip into outer ear
no more than 1/4" (fig. 4). CAUTION: To avoid injury do not put any
part of the trimmer into the ear. Do not insert the trimmer further
than 1/4" into the ear as this could cause damage to the eardrum.
4. Clean trimmer tip immediately after using.
Trimming Eyebrows
1. Turn trimmer on and use tip to cut straight eyebrow hair.
2. To shape and trim eyebrow, hold trimmer at an even distance
from your forehead and move slowly across the eye brow (fig. 5).
Cleaning the Trimmer
1. Trimmer should be cleaned after each use under running water.
Turn trimmer OFF and rinse the cutting tip under warm water (fig 6).
2. For more thorough cleaning, remove cutting head assembly (unscrew
in clockwise direction) and rinse under running water to remove hairs
from inside assembly (fig. 7, 8).
3. After cleaning, return cutting head assembly to its original position
(turn counterclockwise) and wipe entire trimmer dry with soft
cloth. Always replace protective cap before storing the trimmer.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT immerse trimmer.
