- Do not restart the cutting operation in the work-
piece. Let the wheel reach full speed and carefully
re-enter the cut. The wheel may bind, walk up or kick-
back if the power tool is restarted in the workpiece.
- Support panels or any oversized workpiece to
minimize the risk of wheel pinching and kickback.
Large workpieces tend to sag under their own weight.
Supports must be placed under the workpiece near the
line of cut and near the edge of the workpiece on both
sides of the wheel.
- Use extra caution when making a "pocket cut"
into existing walls or other blind areas. The protrud-
ing wheel may cut gas or water pipes, electrical wiring
or objects that can cause kickback.
Safety warnings specific for sanding operations
- Do not use excessively oversized sanding disc
paper. Follow manufacturers recommendations,
when selecting sanding paper. Larger sanding pa-
per extending beyond the sanding pad presents a lac-
eration hazard and may cause snagging, tearing of the
disc, or kickback.
Safety warnings specific for wire brushing opera-
tions
- Be aware that wire bristles are thrown by the
brush even during ordinary operation. Do not
overstress the wires by applying excessive load to
the brush. The wire bristles can easily penetrate light
clothing and/or skin.
- If the use of a guard is recommended for wire
brushing, do not allow any interference of the wire
wheel or brush with the guard. Wire wheel or brush
may expand in diameter due to work load and centrifu-
gal forces.
Additional safety warnings
- Not recommended for use in conjunction with a cut-
off stand.
-CAUTION: In order to prevent overheating do not
cover the appliance.
-Ensure that neither the air access nor exit become
either totally or partially covered by drapery, clothing,
etc., as this increases the risk of fire.
- Regularly clean the power tool's air vents. The mo-
tor's fan will draw the dust inside the housing and ex-
cessive accumulation of powdered metal may cause
electrical hazards.
- Do not use the appliance if the cable or plug is dam-
aged.
- Ensure that the voltage indicated on the rating label
matches the mains voltage before plugging in the ap-
pliance.
6
- If any of the appliance casings breaks, immediately
disconnect the appliance from the mains to prevent the
possibility of an electric shock.
- Do not use the appliance if it has fallen on the floor,
if there are visible signs of damage or if it has a leak.
- CAUTION: Maintain the appliance dry.
- Do not use the appliance with damp hands or feet, or
when barefooted.
- Do not wrap the power cord around the appliance.
- Do not clip or crease the power cord.
- Check the state of the power cord. Damaged or tan-
gled cables increase the risk of electric shock.
- Do not touch the plug with wet hands.
- Ensure that the resulting sparks not become danger-
ous, for example, that they don't reach people or ignite
flammable substances.
- Secure the workpiece. A workpiece clamped with
clamping devices or in a vice is held more secure than
by hand.
- When using the angle grinder make sure that the
workpiece is securely clamped to a work bench or vice.
- When working with the machine, always hold it firmly
with both hands and provide for a secure stance. The
power tool is guided more secure with both hands.
- Before using the appliance check the working speed
shown in the disc/ tool is equal or greater than the ap-
pliance's speed.
- Before using the appliance check the disc / tool di-
mensions are compatible for this appliance.
- Before using the appliance ensure that the disc / tool
is properly fixed in place.
- Allow the angle grinder to reach it's optimum speed
before commencing work
- Apply the machine to the workpiece only when
switched on and switch the machine off only after it has
been lifted away from the workpiece. The power tool
can move suddenly.
- Apply the machine to the workpiece only when
switched on. Otherwise there is danger of kickback
when the cutting tool jams in the workpiece.
- Do not touch any of the appliance's moving parts
while it is operating.
- Do not grind any material containing asbestos. Work-
ing with asbestos and/or silica wheel, the dust pro-
duced is harmful for health. Prevent inhalation of these
types of dust by following the appropriate health and
safety regulations.
- Do not touch the grinding disc after operation. The bit
will be HOT and will burn!
- Exercise precaution after employing the stop opera-
tion on the appliance as the tool will continue moving
from the effect of its own mechanical inertia.
- Always wait until the machine has come to a complete
