DESCRIPTION
To get the best use from your machine please read the following carefully:
The resistive load enables you to set and check the manual arc welding machines.
The calibrating static charge is used to check in compliance with the directive IEC 60974-1 and EN 50504, the arc wel-
ding machines settings for the following current intensities:
• for MIG/MAG machines up to 550 A
• for MMA machines up to 550 A
• for TIG machines up to 550 A
POWER SUPPLY
The resistive load does not require any mains power supply.
OPERATION
1. Check generator status.
2. Make sure that the welding generator to be tested is switched off.
3. On the load check that all stop buttons are in the pushed position and the refiner on 0.
4. Connect the welding cables to the generator and load (polarity does not matter).
5. Power the welding generator to be tested.
6. Set the device current or voltage in manual mode.
7. Depending on the type of welding generator (MIG, MMA or TIG) and the intensity selected, set the resistors to be
switched according to data P21 to P23.
8. In TIG and MIG press the trigger.
9. Read the current flowing through the welding cables on an amperometric clamp.
10. In TIG and MIG release the trigger.
11. On the load move all the stop buttons to the pushed position and the refiner to 0.
12. Repeat steps 6 to 11 to complete the remaining verification steps.
13. Before disconnecting the cables from the load, it is mandatory to push (OFF) all switches and check that the welding
generator is not powered.
WARNING
Before connecting the charge to the welding generator, it is necessary to switch off the power supply of the welding
generator to test in order to avoid an electric arc while connecting/disconnecting the welding cables to /from the charge.
When working with welding genetators with a strong no-load voltage (>96Vdc), the welding machine
The connection/disconnection of the cables to the calibrating static charges has to be done only when the welding
generator is not carrying current.
Leave the inlets free for the air input and output.
Use in a vertical position only.
Electrical accredidation necessary – Do not leave in charge without supervision.
MAINTENANCE
• Remove the casing 2 or 3 times a year to remove any excess dust. Take this opportunity to have the electrical connec-
tions checked by a qualified person, with an insulated tool.
ADVICES BEFORE PERFORMING A VALIDATION ACCORDING TO STANDARD EN 50504
• The validation of a welding equipment according to standard EN 50504 is an action of verification of the product per-
formance compare to its settings. The words calibration or standardisation are used very often.
• The validation is done on 5 measurement points and on the setting range to check, including the minimum and the
maximum. However, it is possible to validate a smaller setting range if the customer requests it. The measure is made
twice (measure a, measure b) after Beforehand, it is recommended to leave the product ON for 5 minutes before per-
forming the validation process.
