FILTER CARTRIDGE REPLACEMENT
See filter sump label for cartridge life. Cartridge life depends on amount of water used and degree of contamination.
1.
Shut off valves securely before and after filter, and depress vent button until pressure is relieved. For valve-in-head models, turn
handle to "OFF" position.
2.
Remove sump, replace cartridge coloured cap into head and re-install sump to lock position. With standard unit depress and hold
vent button when removing or replacing sump.
Open valves before and after filter or turn the handle on valve-in-head models completely to "ON" position.

Open faucet and allow water to run until clear.
VALVE-IN-HEAD FILTER BYPASS MODE - Turn handle completely to "BYPASS" position. Unfiltered water will bypass the unit. Use for
watering lawns, gardens, filling pools or washing cars to extend cartridge life, or in the event of sump damage.
MAINTENANCE / TROUBLESHOOTING
1.
Lubricate head seal (518P) at least once a year and when draining for winter. Use food grade silicone lubricant or non-petroleum
lubricant. Water conditions can be hard on rubber seals. Head seal replacement at least every two years is recommended to
minimize wear and tear and prevent leakage.

Caution: Due to a limited product service life and to prevent costly repairs or possible water damage, we strongly recommend
that the sump (520) be replaced every 5 years. Date the bottom of sump to indicate next replacement date.

Do Not clean housing with solvents such as those found in household cleaner sprays. These may cause cracking or crazing and
lead to failure and leakage.
4.
If sump is difficult to remove, the unit is still under pressure. For standard filter unit, ensure that the supply valve is turned off and
then depress vent button until pressure is fully released. For Deluxe filter unit, simply turn handle to "OFF" position

If leakage occurs around the head seal:
a. Seal may have twisted during cartridge change. Reinstall the seal with groove facing down and then recheck for leaks.
b. Sediment has caused a seal interference. Remove seal and clean off head seal and sealing area of head and sump with a
soft cloth to remove any sediment. Then apply food-grade silicone lubricant to the head seal and sump sealing area. Replace
head seal with groove facing down, replace sump and check for leaks.
NOTE: If leak persists after trying a) or b), or if seal is cracked, replace seal.
6.
If leakage occurs around top of unit, Vent Valve assembly is not closing. Replace the assembly.
This Envirogard/Rainfresh housing is warranted, to the original consumer purchaser/owner for a period of five (5) years, from the original date of purchase, against defects in material or workmanship. Head seals
and O-rings are warranted for a period of one (1) year from the original date of purchase. Envirogard's obligation under this warranty shall consist of repair, replacement or credit (at our option) of any part found by
company inspection to be defective, provided that the product has not been misused, abused, altered or damaged in any way as determined by the company, and provided that only approved
Envirogard/Rainfresh replacement cartridges and seals have been used in the housing. This warranty does NOT apply to the cart ridge which by nature will diminish in performance through normal use and
requires regular replacement. This warranty does NOT cover, and is intended to exclude, any liability on the part of Envirogard for any incidental damages, consequential damages, labour charges or any other
costs incurred in connection with the purchase, installation, use, maintenance or repair of the product, whether under this warranty or any other warranty implied by law. Some provinces/states do not allow the
exclusion of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other rights which vary from
province to province/state to state. This warranty applies only to equipment purchased and installed in domestic residential applications in Canada or the U.S.A. This warranty does NOT apply to
commercial/industrial installations.
