PREPARATION
Remove the Cosmoline coating from the table top with one of
the following methods. Choose one or the other. Do not use
both methods together.
1.
Soak the coating with acetone or mineral spirits. The
coating will soften and can be wiped away.
2.
Heat from a hair dryer can also soften the coating. The
coating will melt at 125°F (51°C). Wipe the coating away.
WARNING! The Cosmoline coating has a flashpoint of 356°F
(180°C). Do not soften with a heat gun or open flame as this
can cause the coating to ignite.
ASSEMBLY
1.
The tabletop (#1) is attached to the base (#2) with 10
screws (#10). Flip the table upside-down so the base is
facing up.
2.
The support legs (#3) have two sets of bolt holes. The set
that is closer to the end of the leg attaches to the table.
3.
Hold the support leg against the base and align the bolt
holes. Push a bolt (#6) through the bolt hole and secure
with a nut (#8). Push a second bolt through the other bolt
hole and also secure with a nut. Hand-tighten the nuts to
allow a bit of play during assembly.
4. Repeat with the other three support legs.
5.
Connect each set of support legs along the short sides of
the table with a beam (#4).
6.
Place a beam on the inside of the support legs. The beam's
flat top will face the bottom of the table.
7.
Align the bolt holes and pass a bolt (#9) from outside
through to the inside. Place a flat washer (#13), then a
spring washer (#7) on the bolt. Screw a nut onto the bolt
and hand-tighten. Repeat for other end of the beam.
