2.1
Hanging – Open Ceiling Fans
•
For optimal air distribution, the Air-Row fan should be no less than 6" from the ceiling. If the Air-
Row fan must be closer to the ceiling, place cables or chains 16"-18" apart (outside the edges of
the fan) to allow ample room to work. Use a minimum of two cables, chains, or Gripple kits to fit
the Air-Row fan into your ceiling space and configuration. Each length should comply with all
local codes and regulations. All hangers, cables, and chains must comply with all weight bearing
specifications to meet or exceed all local codes.
1.
Loop cable or chain over Truss, I-beam, or Support Beam. (Air-Row Fan Company recommends
using Gripple kit cables for best installation).
2.
Create a loop around the anchor point (Truss, I-beam, Support Beam etc.).
3.
Insert cable through the loop and pull all excess cable down until cable is tight around the
building structure.
4.
Thread the end of the cable through the Gripple mechanism until mechanism is close to the
building structure.
5.
Thread the cable through the first set of vertical mounting holes on the destratification unit.
(Four 1/8" mounting holes are located at each corner/edge of the Air-Row fan).
6.
Insert the cable back through the opposite channel of the Gripple mechanism.
7.
Pull excess cable to rise the Air-Row Fan to the desired height.
8.
Repeat steps 1-7 for the second cable until the unit is free hanging with two independent cables.
9.
Remove any excess cable by snipping or zip-tying the cable away from the unit to ensure that no
length of cable can interfere with the rotation of the fan blades. (Air-Row Fan Company
recommends leaving enough cable for future adjustments).
10. If using beam clamps, make sure to secure the clamp(s) to the building structure and tighten the
bolt completely so that the hanging cables cannot escape.
11. The unit is now ready for power.
2.2
Hanging – Grid or Suspended Ceiling Fans
•
The Air-Row LA-248 and DA-248 fans can be installed into a suspended drop ceiling. The fans can
rest on the T-grid bracket but MUST be secured with cables from above. (Each LA-248 and DA-248
have four corner tabs or mounting holes for seismic restraint attachments). All hangers, cables,
and chains must comply with all weight bearing specifications to meet or exceed all local codes.
1.
Cut or remove a 2' x 2' opening in the designated drop or suspended ceiling.
2.
Remove one or more tiles for optimal working conditions.
3.
Loop a minimum of two cables around the building structure (Truss, I-beam, Support Beam
etc.).
4.
Carefully lift or angle the destratification unit into the specific opening.
5.
Attach both cables through the hanging tabs or mounting holes on the unit.
6.
Attach the excess cable securely to the other end of the hanging cable that is looped
around the building structure. (If using beam clamps, carabiners, or Gripple kits, make sure
to attach both ends of the cables appropriately).
7.
Raise the unit until all slack is removed from the cables and that the fan is flush mounted
with the T-grid.
8.
If necessary, snip or zip tie any excess cable that is no longer needed. (Air-Row Fan
Company recommends leaving enough cable for any future adjustments).
9.
The unit is now ready for power. (*Reminder -- Re-insert all other tiles removed during the
installation process after the wiring is completed).
