INSTALLATION
INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING:
DO NOT plug in heater if element is not immersed in coolant. If not immersed, element sheath may burst and
could result in personal injury.
CAUTION:
USE a 50/50 solution of ethylene glycol antifreeze and water for optimum heater performance.
DO NOT USE more than 65% concentration of antifreeze, as a shortened heater life will result.
DO NOT USE heater in cooling system containing any form of stop-leak additive, as a shortened heater life will result.
HEATER INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Drain engine coolant. Flush system if necessary.
2. Locate the M27 x 2 plug on the engine and remove it.
3. Inspect to ensure there is a clean surface for the O-ring to seal against then Install heater assembly and tighten to 41 Nm ± 4Nm
(30 ft-lbs ± 3 ft-lbs).
4. Insert power cord connector firmly into socket, taking care to align pins with sockets of connector on cord. Tighten strain relief nut
securely by hand.
5. Route cord to outside of vehicle, securing where necessary to allow slack for engine vibration and ensure that cord does not
touch engine, hot pipes, or any moving parts. Connect only to a GFI protected 120-Volt AC outlet. If an extension cord is used, it
must be the three-wire grounded type with a minimum wire gauge of 14-gauge.
6. Refill the engine coolant system with coolant mixture. Use a standard 50/50 mixture of coolant and water. Do not use more than
60% concentration of coolant as it will reduce the heater life.
7. Start the engine and check for leaks. Let engine run for 5-10 mins to ensure all air is bled from the system.
CAUTION:
DO NOT plug in heater until completing Step 7.
