C. SUP PRATICE : MORE INFORMATION
1 – THE PRACTICE OF STAND-UP PADDLE AT SEA / OCEAN
Always use a leash (security cordon that connects the user to the board). Find out about
weather forecasts: waves, wind away from the coast, changes in tides, etc.
Two cases:
A) Sailing between 300 meters and 2 nautical miles (3.7km) and the SUP
exceeds 3.50m (11'6 and up)
-
Inform of your departure
-
Sail by day with at least one other user
-
Additionally, equip yourself with: a sealed individual light marking, an individual
buoyancy equipment, a wetsuit (thermal protection), a first aid kit and a means of
communication. It is mandatory to use an individual buoyancy equipment of at least
50N.
-
Warning: inflatable SUPs over 3.50m are allowed to exceed 300m only if they have
one or more reserves buoyancy to float with the maximum recommended load in case
of total invasion of float. These Stand-Up Paddles should respond favourably to a
residual buoyancy test with the largest air chamber deflated. Our Stand-Up Paddles
consist of a single air chamber, so it is forbidden to exceed 300 meters.
B) Surfing or sailing up to 300 meters (beach equipment).
-
When surfing in the waves, respect the 5 main safety rules: respect of the
bathing/swimming areas and rules of priority, waves adapted to your level, spots less
crowded, mandatory wearing of the leash.
-
It is advisable beforehand to control your board in calm water.
