When installing the fireplace, the wood frame has
to be 1/2" recessed from the fireplace front. This
way the drywall (on sides) and non-combustible
panel (on top) will be installed flush with the
fireplace front (see Figure 8). If you want to
lower the thickness variation between the facing
and finishing material, you may install the wood
frame further back by an equivalent distance.
WARNiNG: For safety concerns, it is prohibited
to install combustible panels on top of the
fireplace up to the top spacers (see Figure 5).
Thick finishing material must be installed with
1/8" clearance to the cast surround sides and
3/4" clearance to cast surround top. See
Figure 9 for dimensions and position of thick
finishing material.
Go to Section 2 to install the cast surround.

2. Installing the optional keystone - If you
purchased the optional keystone, it must
be assembled before the cast surround is
installed on the fireplace.
Place the top part of the cast surround
face down on a piece of wood.
Drill 3/8" holes through the two pre-
drilled holes located on the middle of
the top casting.
Assemble the keystone to the top cast-
ing using the screws provided with the
keystone.

3.Cast Surround installation
Step 1. Assembling the cast surround
• Place the four parts of the cast surround
face down on the floor as shown on Figure
12 (place a protection sheet or cloth on the
floor to keep from damaging the paint).
• Assemble the side parts to the top and bottom
part using eight (8) 10-32 x 1/2" screw. You
will have to mate the surfaces (note 1) and
align the edges (note 2) shown on Figure
12. Note that due to normal cast variability,
the assembly brackets allow some assembly
variation.

Step 2. Preparing the fireplace
• Screw the four (4) countersunk head screws
in the four (4) factory installed rive-nut on
the fireplace front sides.
• The distance between the screw head and
the fireplace front depends of the thickness
of your finishing material (FMT). Refer to
Table 1 to determine this distance.
Step 3. installing the cast surround
WARNiNG: The cast surround weighs around
120-lbs. it is strongly recommended that at
least two person manipulate the assembled
cast surround for the installation operation.
• Lift up the cast surround, the back side
facing toward the fireplace.
• Center the cast surround on the fireplace and
align the holding brackets with the fireplace
screws.
• Lift up the cast surround 1/2" and push it
toward the fireplace.
• Let the cast surround come down so that the
four cast holders are suspended on the four
screws. The countersunk head shape of the
screws will help pushing the cast surround
toward the fireplace for a better fit.
