iNSTALLATiON
1. Fireplace Mantel Preparation - The cast
surround is designed to be installed over dif-
ferent type and thickness of finishing material.
WARNiNG: in accordance with the type of
finishing material that will be installed around
the fireplace, it is important to respect some
criteria to allow the installation of the cast
surround. Refer to the sections indicated
below to determine the appropriate finishing
material installation method in relation with
the material type used:
•
Drywall or rock board finish (see Section
1A).
•
Finishing material thickness from 1/2" to
1" from the fireplace facing (see Section
1B).
•
Finishing material thickness over 1" (see
Section 1C).
SECTiON 1A: PLAiN ROCk BOARD OR DRY-
WALL FiNiSH.
When installing the fireplace, the wood frame has
to be flush to the fireplace front. This way the
drywall finish (on sides) and non-combustible
panel (on top) will be installed 1/2" in front of
the fireplace front (see Figure 3).

WARNiNG: For safety concerns, it is prohibited
to install combustible panels on top of the
fireplace up to the top spacers (see Figure 5).
The fireplace facing must be clear for a width of
32-5/8" between the drywall panels to a height
of 33-5/8" (see Figure 4). This is to avoid in-
terference between your finishing material and
all the support brackets of the cast surround.
Go to Section 2 for the installation instructions
of the cast surround.

(TILES, CERAMIC OR OTHERS)
The cast surround is designed to superpose over
a range of finishing material. The minimum and
recommended thickness is 1/2" but can go up
to 1" from the fireplace facing.
When installing the fireplace, the wood frame has
to be 1/2" recessed from the fireplace front. This
way the drywall (on sides) and non-combustible
panel (on top) will be installed flush with the
fireplace front (see Figure 6).

The finishing material will be superposed on
the fireplace facing which it can overlap. If your
finishing material is thicker or if you want to
keep a 1/2' offset between the fireplace front
and finishing material, you may install the wood
frame further back by an equivalent distance.
WARNiNG: For safety concerns, it is prohibited
to install combustible panels on top of the
fireplace up to the top spacers (see Figure 5).
The fireplace facing must be clear for a width
of 32-5/8" between finishing material panels
to a height of 33-5/8" (see Figure 7). This is
to avoid interference between your finishing
material and all the support brackets of the
cast surround.
Go to Section 2 for the installation instructions
of the cast surround.

SECTiON 1C: THiCk FiNiSHiNG MATERiAL
The cast surround won't superpose well over
a thick finishing material so bricks or stones
have to be installed around the cast surround.
This installation must include an adequate
clearance to allow installation or removal of
the cast surround afterward.
