22. Using the Center Section (#1) as a drill template, drill four 3/16" diameter holes vertically from the
bottom of the truck through the bed bottom for the safety chain loops. Once pilot hole is drilled, finish
drilling through bed bottom using 21/32" diameter drill bit keeping drill perpendicular to the bed bottom.
Be sure to deburr the perimeter of the hole with a hand file and coat in rust inhibitor spray.. Repeat
three more times.
23. Once safety chain loop holes are drilled, safety chain loop U-Bolts (#19) can be dropped down through
the holes from the top side of the truck bed. From bottom of hitch, install 5/8 Flat Washer (#17), then
Compression Spring (#20), then 5/8 Flat Washer (#17), then 5/8-11 Nylon Lock Nut (#21). (See Figure
1). Tighten until three threads of the Safety Chain Loop U-Bolt (#19) are visible from the bottom of the
Nylon Lock Nut (#21). Repeat three more times.
24. Re-install the tail pipe section, tail pipe section hangers, spare tire, and the wiring harness bracket
removed in step #4.
