10. Starting at the Driver's Side of the vehicle, lift the DS Crossbrace Weldment (#2) into place "Bottom" side
down. Ensure four 5/8-11 X 1.75" GR8 Carriage Bolts (#8) are installed in the four square holes vertically
through the top of the DS Crossbrace Weldment (#2) prior to lifting it into place. On the outside of the frame
rail, install two 5/8-11 X 1.5" GR8 Hex Head Bolts (#15) vertically through the DS Outer Frame Bracket (#4)
with a 5/8 Flat Washer (#17) and 5/8 Lock Washer (#16) installed on each bolt as shown in Figure #5. Hand
tighten only.
11. Moving to the Passenger Side of the vehicle, lift the PS Crossbrace Weldment (#3) into place "Bottom" side
down. Ensure four 5/8-11 X 1.75" GR8 Carriage Bolts (#8) are installed in the four square holes vertically
through the top of the PS Crossbrace Weldment (#3) prior to lifting it into place. On both sides of the frame
rail, install a total of four 5/8-11 X 1.5" GR8 Hex Head Bolts (#15) vertically through the PS Inner Frame
Bracket (#7) and PS Outer Frame Bracket (#6) with a 5/8 Flat Washer (#17) and 5/8 Lock Washer (#16)
installed on each bolt as shown in Figure #6. Hand tighten only.
12. With a second set of hands lift the Center Section Weldment (#1) into place ensuring the Bed Drill Guide
(#26) has been placed on the top side of the cup before lifting. Once Center Section Weldment (#1) is in
place, install eight 5/8-11 GR8 Serrated Lock Nuts on the bottoms of the 5/8-11 X 1.75" GR8 Carriage Bolts
(#8) from steps #10 & #11 as shown in Figure #3. Tighten with Socket and Ratchet without torquing.
13. Verifying the Center Section Weldment (#1) is centered between the rear wheels is important before
performing this step. Adjust if necessary. When centered ensure the Center Section Weldment (#1) is flush
against the bottom of the bed floor trapping the Bed Drill Guide (#26). From bottom of truck drill 3/16'
diameter pilot hole in the bed floor using the hole in the Bed Drill Guide (#26). From inside the bed of the
truck, use a 3-1/4" Diameter Hole Saw to finish cutting the hole in the bottom of the truck bed. Remove
excess bed floor metal and Bed Drill Guide (#26) from the top of the Center Section (#1) and discard. Be
sure to deburr the perimeter of the hole with a hand file and coat in rust inhibitor spray.
14. Install remaining eleven 5/8-11 X 1.75" GR8 Carriage Bolts (#8) from the outside of the DS/PS Crossbrace
Weldments (#2 & #3) with eleven 5/8-11 GR8 Serrated Lock Nuts (#10) installed from the inside. The Rear
Bottom Brace (#18) should be installed on the back side of the hitch as shown in Figure #3. Tighten all
hardware with socket and ratchet without torquing.
15. Beginning with the DS Inner and Outer Frame Brackets (#4 & #5) torque the three 5/8-11 GR8 Serrated Lock
Nuts (#10) to 230 Ft.-Lbs.
16. Next torque the two vertical 5/8-11 X 1.5" GR8 Hex Head Bolts (#15) that run through the DS Outer Frame
Bracket (#4) to 230 Ft.-Lbs.
17. Moving to the PS Inner and Outer Frame Brackets (#6 & #7), torque the four 5/8-11 GR8 Serrated Lock Nuts
(#10) to 230 Ft.-Lbs.
18. Next torque the four vertical 5/8-11 X 1.5" GR8 Hex Head Bolts (#15) that run through the PS Inner and
Outer Frame Brackets (#6 & #7) to 230 Ft.-Lbs.
19. Moving to the Center Section Weldment (#1), torque the eight vertical 5/8-11 GR8 Serrated Lock Nuts (#10)
from the underside to 230 Ft.-Lbs.
20. Next torque the eleven remaining horizontal 5/8-11 GR8 Serrated Lock Nuts (#10) using 15/16" Torque Tool
(#25) as shown in Figure #4 for the tight spots when the torque wrench head won't fit.
21. Once fasteners are fully torqued, install Hitchball (#22) into Center Section (#1) ball cup. When hitch is not in
use, install Gooseneck Rubber Plug (#23) included with kit to prevent collection of debris inside hitch ball
cup.
