Adding water.
1. When starting the pump for the first time, add a small quantity of water to the pump body.
2. Start the engine.
Caution
1. Only use good quality gasoline that has not been mixed with another product. Keep fire and other explosives
and flammable objects away from the pump. Operate the pump on a level surface to prevent fuel spilling.
2. Keep the fuel clean. The fuel must be filtered or settled for 24 hours before use. Do not add fuel into the fuel
tank or crank case when the machine is running.
3. Exhaust gas contains poisonous carbon monoxide. Never use the machine in poorly ventilated locations.
4. Do not touch muffler or muffler cover while the machine is running or hot, as it will burn skin.
5. Run new or newly maintained machines at low speed with low load for a test period of 20 hours. Do not run at
high speed with a full load.
Maintenance
1. Air pressure and the suction head of pump will decrease at elevated altitudes. The value of decrease can be
estimated by subtracting the local atmosphere value from the head rating.
2. Short and straight pipe is preferred as it can reduce unnecessary loss of pressure. The pipeline must be
supported to avoid vibration or damaging the pump. Before operation, check connections between pump and
pipeline to enure there is nothing loose, and pay special attention to leakage of inlet pipeline.
3. The filter screen must keep a certain distance between water surface, water bottom and bank. The pipe must
dipped into the water at least 1 foot to avoid sucking air and to keep a distance that of at least 4 feet from water
bottom or bank, to avoid sucking up organic debris.
4. When using the pump in the winter, unscrew the drain cock and draw off water thoroughly after use to prevent
the pump being broken by expanding ice inside.
5. When changing self-priming pump's machinery seal, apply adhesive to the connection between the steel part
(#7) and the pump cover. When affixed, do not hit with force. Please see the Machinery Seal structure diagram
on the following page.
