NOTE: 1995-1997, 2003 & LATER LINCOLN TOWN CAR EXTERNAL DRESS PANEL BENEATH VEHICLE MUST BE REMOVED FOR HITCH
INSTALLATION AND RETURNED TO VEHICLE OWNER.
1. Examine bottom of frame rails of vehicle. To allow the hitch to sit flat, any weld spatter must be removed from frame rails. Remove all but thin
film of undercoating from attaching surfaces.
2. Raise hitch into position on frame rails making sure that it is centered on vehicle. Hitch should be positioned so that side brackets are
approximately 1" from the rear end of frame.
NOTE: On 2003 & Later Lincoln Town Car, it will be necessary to relocate passenger side exhaust hanger bracket as follows: Unbolt hanger
bracket from vehicle frame. Remove rubber hanger from hanger bracket and tail pipe bracket, see Figure 3. Rotate rubber hanger and
reattach to hanger bracket as shown in Figure 4. DO NOT reattach to tail pipe bracket at this time. Discard existing exhaust hanger bolt.
3. Using hitch as a template, drill four (4) holes in frame. The rear holes should be drilled as close to the center to the of the vehicle as possible.
4. Drop 1/2 hex bolt with 1/4 X 1-1/2 X 2 block down thru opening at end of each frame rail for rear attachment point. Forward attachment point
requires fish wiring 1/2 carriage bolt with 1/4 X 1-1/2 X 2 block thru body mount access hole into drilled hole.
5. Install 1/4 X 1-1/2 X 2 block with round hole between frame and hitch as shown for rear attachment.
6. Install conical washers and hex nuts.
7. Reattach exhaust hanger as shown in Figure 4.
Note: check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holes in trunk pan or other body panels to
prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Observe safety precautions when working
beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
This product complies with safety specifications and requirements for connecting devices and towing systems of the state of New York, V.E.S.C. Regulation V-5
and SAE J684.
