The product is designed to be connected to the USB port of a computer and serves as an
external sound card.

Installation of the driver
Switch your computer on, and wait until the operating system has completely booted up.
Place the CD included in delivery in the corresponding drive of your computer. If the installation
program does not start automatically, open the CD using the Windows file manager and start the
installation program contained on the CD. Follow the software instructions.
Restarting Windows may be required afterwards.
Connection to the Computer
After the driver installation (see above) connect the HD sound box to a free USB port of your
computer by means of the USB cable provided. Windows recognises the new hardware and
completes the driver installation.
If your computer already has a sound card (e.g. Onboard Sound on the Motherboard), you can
switch between the installed sound card and the HD Sound Box, e.g. in Windows XP/Vista in the
control panel. Normally, after connection to the computer, the HD Sound Box is the sound card
that is used preferably.

As for conventional sound cards or onboard sound cards of a motherboard, the
respective input must be selected in the control panel or in the setting functions of
the software provided.

• With the keys "VOL+" and "VOL-" the total volume of the audio playback can be changed.
• By using the button "MIC MUTE" you can mute a connected microphone. By doing so, the LED

under the microphone symbol lights up.

• With the button "VOL MUTE" the audio playback can be muted.
Tips & Notes
• USB does not function when DOS or Windows are in safe mode (or only restricted to USB key-
board/mouse). The HD Sound Box cannot be used here.
• Select the correct sound card from the Windows control panel, if necessary (internal sound
card or onboard sound or the HD Sound Box).
After connecting the HD Sound Box to the computer, it normally activates automatically and is
ready for use. The power LED lights up.
• You might have to activate or select the microphone input first to enable e. g. recordings via a
headset. This setting is to be done in the control panel with Windows XP or Windows Vista or
in the setting function of the software provided.
With the sound recorder integrated in Windows you can test the sound recording, to adjust the
microphone recording level or check if the system settings are correct.
