1 General

1.1 Description

The AMX-172p is a compact stand alone AES/EBU multiplexer designed to embed two 20-bit
digital audio signals into a single SMPTE 259M serial component digital video signal. The AMX-
172p has an automatic 525/625 input detection. The AMX-172p is available in both
75Ω unbalanced (AMX-172p/75) and 110Ω balanced (AMX-172p/110) AES/EBU input version.
The AMX-172p can insert any of the four embedded audio groups in a serial 4:2:2 video stream
and provides a re-clocked serial digital input. The low cost and compact packaging of the AMX-
172p make it ideal for standalone application.
