PEDESTAL/BENCH MOUNT
Components to mount the tool to a pedestal have the part numbers contained in a hexagon instead of a circle in the
PARTS BREAKDOWN exploded diagram.
1. Install mounting brackets (No. 24) to body assembly (No. 11) using bolts (No. 22), washers (No. 21), lock
washer (No. 10) and nut (No. 9).
2. Install mounting bracket (No. 24) to top of pedestal bench. Mount the Universal Metal Bender in the
appropriate holes using bolts (No. 23), bushing (No. 20), washer (No. 19) and nylon lock nut (No. 18).
3. Follow Steps 1 to 7, excluding Step 2, in the VICE MOUNT section.
4. You are now ready to start bending.
VICE MOUNT
1. Thread in lock rod assembly (No. 16) to body assembly (No. 11) leaving approximately one inch
of exposed thread.
2. Clamp body assembly (No. 11) in vice halfway down on the body.
3. Install bar lock rod (No. 17) using acorn nuts (No. 15).
4. Install handle assembly (No. 13) to body assembly (No. 11) using washer (No. 14) and presto pin (No. 1).
5. Install depth control rod (No. 6) on body assembly (No. 11) using nuts (No. 3) on either side of body. These
nuts are used to tighten and keep depth control rod in place.
6. Slide depth control (No. 7) on depth control rod (No. 6) and tighten in place with thumbscrew (No. 8).
7. Install block (No. 4) on lock rod assembly (No. 16). This block is used to clamp the material against the die
for ease of bending.
8. You are now ready to start bending.
OPERATION
This metal bender is designed to make a variety of bends on flat, round or square stock. The bender includes 7
round dies (1 to 3 in. in diameter) for making different radius curved bends to create items such as
U-bolt or clamps.
The capacity for hot rolled mild steel is as follows:
1. Up to 3/8 in. diameter round bar.
2. Up to 3/8 in. thick by 2 in. flat bar.
3. Up to 3/8 in. thick square bar.
