3. Use and Technical Description
3.1. Use of the Electronic Alarm
AL3 equipment is used as an alarm and to protect against
flooding. It warns of increasing water levels with an au-
dible intermittent signal transducer. It is equipped with
an LED to indicate the mains supply, a reset button and
an integrated mains plug to plug the equipment into the
wall socket. The equipment may also be used through an
isolated alarm connection to connect to other alarm trans-
ducers. A 9V battery block for off-the-grid alarm may be
retrofitted and is available as an accessory.
AL3 with float switch is used to warn of high liquid le-
vel (high water alarm), e.g. of pump failure or overload in
pump shafts, of high water in ditches or tanks or similar.
AL 3 with float switch is equipped with an automatic float
switch that actuates and triggers the alarm when the cri-
tical liquid level is reached. Float switch with 10 m cable,
ready-connected.
AL3 with tank float is used in tanks to warn of high liquid
level (high water alarm), tank float with 10 m cable.
AL 3 with floor sensor is used to warn of seeping or lea-
king water in rooms in which there is no pump shaft, e.g.
in cellars or basement rooms in torrential rain, in rooms
with pipes carrying water or appliances (washing machi-
nes, domestic water systems) when there is damage to
the pipes or leaks.
AL 3 with floor sensor is equipped with an automatic
sensor switch that actuates when there is already a liquid
level of approximately 2 mm and triggers the alarm. Floor
sensor for floor installation with 3 m cable, ready-connec-
ted.
AL3 with pitotstatic tube is used to warn of penetrating
or leaking water in rooms in which only a narrow pump
shaft is present. In such cases, AL3 can be used as a high
water alarm. Pipe length 10 m.

Accident prevention regulations and the generally
recognized rules of the art are to be complied with.
The equipment can be transported in an upright or
horizontal position, do not jerk or topple during trans-
port.
During extended storage the equipment must be
protected against moisture, heat and frost.
The equipment must be connected to a socket with
protective contact installed according to the regula-
tions. The mains fuse prescribed according to the
technical data must be adhered to. A professional
inspection prior to initial operation must ensure that
the required electrical protection measures are in
place. Grounding, zeroing, isolating transformer and
fault current circuit breaker (Fi, max. 30mA) must
comply with the regulations of the responsible power
supplier.
The voltage specified in the Technical Data must
correspond with the local power supply.
Make sure that the equipment and electrical connec-
tions are located in a flood-proof area and are
protected from moisture. The power cord and plug
must be checked for damage before use.
