risk for suffering a burn injury.
Caution should always be exercised
with current densities > 2 mA/cm
11. Switch off stimulation before
removing the electrodes from the
skin. If an electrode comes off, shut
off the stimulation before picking it
up. Getting electrical stimulation
through the fingers is unpleasant but
not harmful.
12. Training aches can occur after
stimulation but usually disappear
within a week.
13. Never open the battery lid during
stimulation.
14. If the stimulator is not used for some
time (approximately 3 months), the
non-rechargeable batteries should be
removed from the stimulator.
15. Do not use the stimulator in the

TROUBLESHOOTING

Stimulation does not feel the same as
usual.
Check that all settings are correct (see
Practical use p. 18-20) and make sure
that the electrodes are right in place.
Stimulation current feels unpleasant.
1. Skin is irritated. Advice on skin care,
see Precautionary measures p. 22.
2. Electrodes are too old and need
replacement.
3. Insufficient electrode gel on the
carbon rubber electrodes.
Current pulses are weak, or missing.
1. Do the batteries need replacement?
See Replacement of batteries p. 21.
2. If the circuit is not closed, due to a
cable breakage for example, the
vicinity of short-wave or microwave
equipment (mobile telephones, for
.
example), since this may affect the

output power.
16. Stimulation should not take place
while the patient is connected to
high frequency surgical equipment.
It may cause burn injuries on the
skin under the electrodes, as well as
problems with the stimulator.
17. Only Cefar accessories may be used
with the stimulator.
18. Use the stimulator only as stated in
the operating instructions.
19. The stimulator meets the requirements
of MDD 93/42/EEC, including the
EMC requirements. This, however,
is no guarantee that the equipment
will not be affected by electromag-
netic disturbances.
amplitude for this channel is auto-
matically turned off and 0.0 mA
starts blinking. Cable breakage can
be checked by pressing the cable´s
pins against one another while
increasing the amplitude for this
channel to about 10 mA. If the
amplitude now turns off and 0.0 mA
blinks the cable needs to be replaced.
3. A too high resistance is indicated by
the amplitude dropping to 0.0 mA
and 0.0 mA starts blinking.
4. Electrodes are too old and need
replacement.
Service of the stimulator should be
performed by Cefar or Cefar´s distributors
and should be carried out once per year.
Cefar will only be responsible for service
and repairs performed by Cefar or a
distributor appointed by Cefar.
