6. Fold the packaging over the remaining funnels to close and prevent entry of
airborne contamination. (You may use a clip to keep the packaging closed.)
7. Pour the sample into the funnel, aligning the bottom of the meniscus with the
desired graduation.
8. Filter the sample under vacuum until the sample has passed entirely through
the membrane.
NOTE: A membrane/funnel rinse may be performed at this stage if necessary.
Microfil funnels are designed to prevent sample retention and do not
normally require rinsing.
9. Close valve to vacuum.
