MAINTENANCE BY A PROFESSIONAL
Before any work on the appliance, disconnect the power supply.
The shielded element, and the anode, are mounted on the easily accessible
flange.
To drain the water heater, set the safety unit to drain position, then open a hot
water tap. The longevity of the anode depends on the hardness of the water and
the normal temperature of use. Periodically check the state of the anode, at least
two years after commissioning.
ANODE
The hot water tank is protected against corrosion by an anode.
The lifetime of the anode depends on the water and the operating conditions.
For periodic descaling, under the maintenance provisions the state of the anode
must be checked at least every two years.
The date of the new inspection will be fixed by the maintenance professional.
The anode must be replaced if its diameter falls below 10 mm.
Checks and replacements may only be performed by authorised contractors (see
list).
Please see the maintenance documentation in the checklist below.
After replacing the anode, the earth connection must be properly restored to
its original state.
It is extremely important that there is a good contact between the anode and
the earth screw.
WHERE THERE IS NO COMPLIANCE WITH ANY OF THE ABOVE OR WITH
THE MAINTENANCE DOCUMENTATION, AND THAT HAS LED TO A
FAILURE OF OPERATION OR SAFETY, YOUR WARRANTY RIGHTS WILL BE
FORFEIT.
If its diameter (32 mm normally) is equal to or less than 10 mm at any point, the
anode must be replaced
.
In the case of very hard water, it is recommended to descale annually the water
heater:
Drain the appliance and remove the flange.
Remove any lime deposited as sludge or layers on the bottom of the tank and
then carefully clean the thermostat ducts and the heating element. Do not try to
remove any limescale adhering to the walls of the tank as this provides effective
protection against corrosion.
