3. OPERATING

3.1 Die insertion and removal

The "U" dies are identical halves; either hall can be installed in the head or ram position. It is important
to clean the identical halves for the dies in order to have a successful installation.

3.1.4 Checking output pressure

Do NOT use hydraulic brake fluid in this tool. Brake
fluid can damage seals and cause leaks which may
lead to serious personal injury or tool damage.
your Tool is dependent upon the frequency of use. Heavily used and/or mishandled tools will require
more frequent output pressure testing. Always check the output pressure after the tool has been
serviced or refilled with hydraulic fluid. To check the output pressure of your tool, you will need a force
test gauge kit.
Note: Use hydraulic fluid recommended by SBI.

3.2 Carrying out a crimping connection with the Y35

1. Ensure the dies match the connector being crimped and have been installed correctly (see
Operating instructions in this manual).
2. Place the die cavity around the connector to be crimped.
3. Rotate the reservoir handle clockwise to advance the ram until the die butts against the
connector.

3.1.1 Upper die

Slide die into position until it stops. Depress die button and continue
to slide die in. Release button and slide in die until die retainer clicks
into place.

3.1.2 Lower die

Advance ram (by fixed handle) until die button is exposed. Insert die
as described above.

3.1.3 Die removal

Depress die button and slide die set out.
WARNING
1.- Jaw opening. Large jaw opening.
2.- Lifting eye. Lifting eye for easily lifting
into working position.
3.- "C" Shaped head.
4.- Dies button. Positive push die blocks.
5.- Quick disconnect hydraulic fitting.

verify that the output pressure of your tool is
within SBI's recommendation. A tool not
reaching minimum output pressure may result in
unsatisfactory
frequency of checking the output pressure of
