4.2.1 Daily

Keep all tool surfaces free of grease, dirt and foreign material. Keep moving parts free of dirt and grit.
Dirt in the ram area will scour the ram cylinder and damage the seals. To clean, advance the ram and
wash the cylinder with a commercial solvent.
Clean the neoprene insulation with a clean and dry cloth.

4.2.2 Monthly

Check the hydraulic fluid level in the tool. To check the fluid level, advance the ram by rotating the
reservoir handle clockwise. (Do not pump the handles.) The ram should advance to within 3.2 mm of
the head housing. If the ram does not advance to this point, the fluid is low and must be replenished

4.2.3 Semi-Annually

Drain the hydraulic fluid. Flush out the hydraulic system and fill with new, clean fluid. If the fluid turns
dark or becomes milky coloured prior to the semi-annual inspection, it should be changed as soon as
possible. Follow the instructions provided in the MAINTENANCE section of this manual for replacing
the hydraulic fluid.
Note: There are many hydraulic fluids that could be used with the Y35 tool depending on the working Tº, but
always use the fluid recommended by SBI.

5. SERVICE

NEVER service or adjust a tool that is pressurized.
Servicing a pressurized tool may result in severe personal
injury. To avoid injury, fully retract the ram by rotating the
reservoir handle counter-clockwise until it stops.

6. GENERAL GUIDELINES

Disassembly should be done on a flat, clean surface. Some parts may fall free during
disassembly. To prevent part loss or damage, keep the tool as close to the working surface as
possible.
Inspect all parts as they are disassembled and their mating parts in the tool that are not
removed for signs of damage, wear, cracks, etc. Replace any parts which appear to be
damaged.
When disassembling the tool for service, it is recommended that O-rings, back-up rings and
gaskets be replaced.
Clean grease and oil from all parts (taking care to protect your eyes), then dry thoroughly. Do
not expose O-rings or other packing components to cleaning agents for long periods of time.
Inspect all parts as they are assembled for signs of damage, wear, cracks, etc. Do not install
any parts which appear to be damaged.

WARNING
5. Bleed air from the system by advancing the ram
with short strokes of the lever handle. Retracting
the ram will force air from the system. Refill with
fluid.
6. Replace the filler port screw, the reservoir
handle, and the set screw in that order to
reassemble the tool.

4.2 Preventive maintenance

A normal maintenance ensures a long life of both the
Y35 tool and the Y35BH remote control head.
Service information is provided only for
experienced tool technicians. We do not
recommend that you attempt to service
or repair any tool yourself. Tool servicing
by unqualified personnel will void the
warranty and may lead to serious
personal injury.
