HDMI audio extractor with 8-channel output

Intended use
This product is designed to extract the audio signal from an HDMI-compatible device.
The extracted audio signal is then transmitted to an analogue 7.1 cinch output or an optical
digital output. The HDMI signal is looped through for further use. The gold-plated connections
are anti-corrosive and improve signal transmission. Power is supplied via the power adapter
included with the product.
The product is intended for indoor use only. Do not use it outdoors. Contact with moisture, e.g.
in bathrooms, must be avoided under all circumstances.
For safety and approval purposes, you must not rebuild and/or modify this product. If you use
the product for purposes other than those described above, the product may be damaged.
In addition, improper use can cause hazards such as short circuiting, fire, electric shock etc.
Read the instructions carefully and keep them. Make this product available to third parties only
together with its operating instructions.

a) General information
• The device is not a toy. Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
• Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly. This may become
dangerous playing material for children.
• Protect the product from extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, strong jolts, high
humidity, moisture, flammable gases, vapours and solvents.
• Do not place the product under any mechanical stress.
• If it is no longer possible to operate the product safely, take it out of operation and
protect it from any accidental use. Safe operation can no longer be guaranteed
if the product:
- is visibly damaged,
- is no longer working properly,
- has been stored for extended periods in poor ambient conditions or
- has been subjected to any serious transport-related stresses.
• Please handle the product carefully. Jolts, impacts or a fall even from a low height
can damage the product.
• Also observe the safety and operating instructions of any other devices which are
connected to the product.
• Consult an expert when in doubt about the operation, safety or connection of the
device.
• Maintenance, modifications and repairs are to be performed exclusively by an
expert or at a qualified shop.
• If you have questions which remain unanswered by these operating instructions,
contact our technical support service or other technical personnel.
b) Persons and Product
• The mains outlet must be located near to the product and be easily accessible.
• Only use the power adapter that comes with the product to power the audio
extractor.
• Never connect or disconnect power adapters if your hands are wet.
• The product is built according to protection class II. Only connect the power
adapter to a normal mains socket connected to the public supply. Before plugging
in the power adapter, check whether the voltage stated on the power adapter
complies with the voltage of your electricity supplier.
• Never unplug the mains plug by pulling on the cable. Grip the sides of the plug and
then pull it out of the socket.
• Do not touch the power adapter if there are any signs of damage, as this may
result in a fatal electric shock!
Switch off the mains voltage to the mains socket to which the power adapter is
connected (switch off at the corresponding circuit breaker or remove the safety
fuse, then switch off at the RCD protective switch so that all poles of the mains
socket are disconnected).
You can then unplug the power adapter from the mains socket. Dispose of the
faulty power adapter in an environmentally friendly manner and discontinue use.
Replace it with a power adapter of the same design.
• Always lay cables so that nobody can trip over or become entangled in them. This
poses a risk of injury.
• Ensure that the cable is not bent or compressed when you are setting up the
product.
• Never use the product immediately after it has been brought from a cold room into
a warm one. The condensation generated could destroy the product. The power
adapter may also cause a fatal electric shock!
Allow the product to reach room temperature before connecting it to the power
supply and putting it to use. This may take several hours.
• Never pour any liquids over electrical devices or put objects filled with liquid right
next to the device. If liquid or an object does enter the interior of the device, power
down the respective socket (e.g. switch off the circuit breaker) and then unplug
the mains plug from the mains socket. Discontinue use and take the product to a
specialist repair centre.

Operation
a) Connection and setup
• Turn off all devices and remove their power adapters from the mains socket.
• Use a suitable HDMI cable to connect the HDMI input (17) to an HDMI output on a playback
device (such as a Blu-ray player or games console).
If the source device is a computer, the audio extractor must be connected to your computer
before turning the computer on.
• If the HDMI signal is to be looped through (e.g. to a TV), connect the HDMI output (16) to the
HDMI input on your TV.
