General
Your new SkyTronic battery charger is microprocessor controlled and
selects automatically the optimal charging current for NiCad and NiMh
batteries of the sizes AAA, AA, C and D. It is also possible to charge 9V
NiCad or NiMh block batteries via a safe trickle charge. The unit offers 3
different charging methods that will be described individually hereafter.
Practical hint! Clean thoroughly the contacts of the batteries before
charging in order to guarantee a good contact.
1) Immediate charging
Plug the mains adapter in a wall outlet and the plug of the low voltage
lead of the mains adapter in the socket at the rear of the battery charger.
The 'POWER' LED will light up. Push the 'OPEN' button to the rear to
open the compartment cover. Insert the batteries to be charged in the
compartments 1 or 2. Only insert batteries of the same type in the same
compartment! E.g. two AA batteries in compartment 1 and two D
batteries in compartment 2.
The unit will charge only one compartment at a time. The 'CHARGE' LED
of the compartment which is currently charged, lights up. The 'CHARGE'
LED of the other compartment is flashing. When the charging process is
almost completed, the 'READY' LED lights up. When the 'READY' LED
begins to flash, the batteries are fully charged. The unit switched now
automatically over to the other compartment. After completion of the
charging process, the unit goes into a safe trickle charge.
Compartment 2
2) Discharging before re-charging
It is generally recommended to discharge NiCad and NiMh batteries
prior to charging. Thus the charging process is fully controlled without
any risk of overcharging and the batteries are kept in a perfect
condition. In all cases it is necessary to discharge batteries that do not

have the same charging condition. Insert the batteries in the
compartments as described in section 1) "Immediate charging" and
press once the yellow 'DISCHARGE' button. The batteries are now
discharged simultaneously in both compartments. Once the discharge
process is completed, the charger switched to normal charging mode.
You can stop the discharge process any time by pressing the yellow
'DISCHARGE' button. The unit switched automatically into charging
mode.
3- Reconditioning weak batteries
