SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
• The fiber optic light guide is provided in a non-sterile condition and must be sterilized prior to patient contact.
For sterilization instructions refer to SECTION 7.
• This curing unit produces high output curing energy! A significant increase in curing energy is possible
compared with equipment you have previously used.
• Do not look directly at the light emitted from this curing unit. Do not use this device without suitable eye
protection for the operator, assistant and patient. Suitable eye protection blocks all energy below 550 nm.
Refer to Section 10, ACCESSORIES & REPLACEMENT PARTS for suitable eye protection.
• Persons having a history of photosensitive reactions or who are using photosensitizing drugs should not be
exposed to light from this unit.
• Equipment is not suitable for use in the presence of a flammable anesthetic mixture with air or nitrous oxide.
• All Kerr models have been designed to meet worldwide electrical safety standards, including U.S., Canadian,
and European, and to be safe and effective for all dental applications.

HANDPIECE OPERATION
a) Kerr recommends daily use of an L.E.D. curing radiometer to measure light output. The L.E.D. Radiometer
by Kerr (part number 910726) is designed to measure all L.E.D. curing units with 7mm or larger light guides.
Typical output is approximately 1,000mW/cm
b) Recommended Curing Time: Based on composite manufacturer's instructions for use. In general it is
recommended that a 10 second cure is necessary for each 2mm increment of composite placed.
c) Activate the light output by pressing trigger button on handpiece. The unit will emit a short beep tone each
time the trigger is pressed:
10 second mode: Press the trigger once to activate the default 10 second mode.
30 second mode: Press the trigger twice (within two seconds) to activate the 30 second mode.
After two seconds, the light can be switched off by pressing the trigger again.
Beep tone: In either curing mode, the unit is programmed to beep initially at 5
seconds, and thereafter at 10 second intervals. At the end of each curing
mode, the beep tone will be longer to indicate that the light is "OFF".
