Getting started
• Open the battery compartment, removing its cover (17).
• Insert two AAA/Micro batteries into the battery compartment paying attention to the
correct polarity (observe positive/+ and negative/-).
• Close the battery compartment.
• Immediately after the batteries are inserted the thermo-/hygrometer shows briefly
all display segments, display illumination is briefly activated and the tone signal is
audible. Then, the first temperature and air humidity readings appear on the display.
• Now the thermo-/hygrometer starts searching for the DCF signal.
The DCF signal is a signal broadcast from a transmit-
ter in Mainflingen (near Frankfurt am Main). Its range
covers up to 1500 km and, and under ideal reception
conditions, even up to 2000 km.
The DCF signal contains the exact time and the date,
among other details.
Naturally, this also eliminates the hassle of manually
setting up summer and winter times.
• During the search for the DCF signal, a radio tower
symbol flashes in the top right display area.
Good DCF signal reception
No DCF signal reception
Do not place the thermo-/hygrometer next to electronic devices, metal parts, ca-
bles and so on. Bad reception can also be expected with metallised insulating glass
windows, reinforced concrete constructions, coated special wallpaper or in cellar
rooms.
• The capture and analysis of the DCF signal can take up to 8 minutes. During this
time, do not move the thermo-/hygrometer. Do not use any buttons.
After the thermo-/hygrometer has read the DCF signal correctly, the current time of
the day and the date are displayed and the radio tower symbol stops flashing.
The synchronisation of the thermo-/hygrometer and DCF signal is done daily at
02:05, 03:05, 04:05, 05:05 or 06:05. One successful reception attempt per day already
is enough to keep the time deviation shown on the display below one second.
In case of a successful signal reception attempt (e.g., at 02:05), the next at-
tempt will only occur the next day at 02:05 to save energy and extend the
battery life.
If there still is no current time shown on the display after 9 minutes, change
the location of the thermo-/hygrometer. Then either start a new search for the DCF
signal, see chapter "Starting the DCF reception attempt manually". Alternatively, you
can set time and date manually.
• During summertime, the symbol "
Positioning
Place the thermo-/hygrometer on a flat horizontal surface. Protect valuable furniture
surfaces by using a suitable mat to prevent scratches.
Don't place the thermo-/hygrometer near heaters; protect it also from di-
rect sunlight. Otherwise, the indoor temperature and/or humidity will not be
measured correctly.
Starting the DCF reception attempt manually
Press and hold down the "DOWN" (15) button for approx. 3 seconds. This will initialise
the search for the DCF signal, the radio tower icon is blinking in the top right display
area. Signal search attempt may last for 9 minutes, so do not move the thermo-/hy-
grometer during this time; do not press any button (if the DCF signal search attempt
stops prematurely, press the "DOWN" button (15) again and hold for approx. 3 sec-
onds).
You may also wait for a day, so that the attempt to catch the DCF signal can
happen at night, when a better reception of the DCF signal can be achieved.
If the DCF reception is impossible at the location of the thermo-/hygrometer, set the
time manually, see next section.
Setting the time of day manually
After a successful daily DCF signal search attempt, the manually set time
will be overwritten automatically.
• When the time is displayed, press and hold the "MODE" button (13) until (in approx.
in 3 seconds) "24" or "12" starts flashing on the display. Release the button.
• You can select 24 h or 12 h mode by "UP" (14) or "DOWN" (15) buttons (in the 12 h
mode, "PM" is indicated to the left of the time in the second half of the day)
• Briefly press the "MODE" (13) button, and the hours will blink. Using the "UP" (14) or
"DOWN" (15) button, you can set the month.
For quick adjustment, hold the "UP" or "DOWN" button pressed for some
time. This also applies to the settings described below.
" (10) appears on the display.
• Briefly press the "MODE" (13) button, and the minutes will blink. Using the "UP" (14)
or "DOWN" (15) button, you can set the month.
• Briefly press the "MODE" (13) button, and the time zone flashes. Set it in the range
of -12 to +12 hours by pressing the "UP" (14) or "DOWN" (15) button.
• Briefly press the "MODE" button (13) to exit the setting mode.
The setting mode will end automatically, if you do not press any buttons for
several seconds. In this process, the previous settings will be saved.
If e.g., only 12 h/24 h mode is changed, the radio tower symbol " " (12) in-
dicating DCF receipt temporarily disappears. However, the thermo-/hygrom-
eter will start searching DCF signal during the next synchronisation.
Setting the date manually
After a successful daily DCF signal search attempt, the manually set date
will be overwritten automatically.
• Briefly press the "MODE" button (13), and the date will be displayed ("M" and "D"
appear below the numbers).
• Now hold the "MODE" (13) button until (in approx. 3 seconds) the year display starts
blinking. Release the button.
• Then you can set the year by the "UP" (14) or "DOWN" (15) button.
For quick adjustment, hold the "UP" or "DOWN" button pressed for some
time. This also applies to the settings described below.
• Briefly press the "MODE" (13) button, and the month flashes. Using the "UP" (14) or
"DOWN" (15) button, you can set the month.
• Briefly press the "MODE" (13) button, and the day will start flashing. Using the "UP"
(14) or "DOWN" (15) button, you can set the month.
• Briefly press the "MODE" button (13) to exit the setting mode.
The setting mode will end automatically, if you do not press any buttons for
several seconds. In this process, the previous settings will be saved.
Wake-up function
a) Setting the alarm
• Briefly press the "MODE" button (13) twice, and the alarm time will be displayed (the
symbol " " (2) will appear superimposed in the top left area of the display).

time start blinking. Release the button.
• Set the hours of the alarm time by pressing "UP" (14) or "DOWN" (15) button.
For quick adjustment, hold the "UP" or "DOWN" button pressed for some

Using the "UP" (14) or "DOWN" (15) button, you can set the month.
• Briefly press the "MODE" button (13), and the number of alarm tone will start flash-
ing. Select the desired tone by the button "UP" (14) or "DOWN" (15) ("00" is the
normal beeping tone, from "01" to "12" - different melodies).
• Briefly press the "MODE" button (13) to exit the setting mode.
The setting mode will end automatically, if you do not press any buttons for
several seconds. In this process, the previous settings will be saved.
b) Setting the daily alarm
