L/R port (9) (analogue stereo output)
Note that only one analogue stereo signal can be output here.
If a 5.1 or 7.1 audio signal is delivered to the audio extractor by a Blu-ray player, such signal,
as a matter of principle, cannot be reproduced through the optical output!
Therefore, you should pay attention to the soundtrack you choose during Blu-ray
playback or set up your Blu-ray player accordingly.
• Connect the low-voltage connector of the included USB cable to the 5V/DC port (6).
• Plug the USB connector of the USB cable into a USB interface or into the USB port of a USB
power adapter.
• As soon as the 5V/DC power (6) receives power, the Power indicator (4) lights up.
Selecting the audio format
• First, turn on all connected devices and power the HDMI Audio Extractor.
• If an HDMI signal is detected at HDMI In (1), the Link indicator (3) goes on.
• Push the mode switch (5) to the position that suits the application:
TV
The HDMI Audio Extractor delivers the best possible audio signal that supports the device
connected to HDMI Out (8) (for example, 7.1, if a 7.1 amplifier is connected).
In general, depending on the input signal, there is no signal at the optical port (7) or
at the analogue audio output L/R (9).
Bitstream
The playback device receives EDID information that at the most 5.1-channel audio signal
is possible. The HDMI Audio Extractor delivers a corresponding audio signal at the optical
output (7) (depending on the available input signal).
LPCM 2CH
The playback device receives EDID information that at the most 2-channel audio signal is
possible. The HDMI Audio Extractor delivers a stereo audio signal at the optical output (7)
and at the analogue stereo output L/R (9).
The LPCM (2) indicator is on, if this mode is activated.
EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) is a data structure within the signal that
enables devices to communicate with each other.
Troubleshooting
No audio signal available
• Is the slide switch (5) in the proper switch position?
If you want to use the optical output (7), note that a 5.1 audio signal is maximum signal that
can be output here. Move the mode switch (5) into the "Bitstream" position.
If you want to use the L/R output (9), note that a 2 channel audio signal is maximum signal
that can be output here. Move the mode switch (5) into the "LPCM 2CH" position.
• Check if the playback device has an audio signal.
• If necessary, select a different audio format on the playback device (e.g., in the menu of the
Blu-ray player and in the audio settings of the Blu-ray disc).
• Control the volume settings of the connected devices.
• Check whether the mute function is enabled at one of the connected devices.
• The audio extractor can only function if energized. Therefore, check whether the 5V/DC (6)
port is properly connected and supplied with power. The Power indicator (4) must light up.
• HDMI Out (8), the optical audio output (7) and the analogue audio output L/R (9) may deliver
the following audio signals:

• Select the proper input on the TV set/monitor.
• If the Blu-ray player has various outputs, check in the set-up menu of the Blu-ray player
whether the proper output is activated.
• TV set/monitor must support the playback mode (e.g., 4K or 3D).
• First check whether the TV set/monitor is working properly when connected directly to the
Blu-ray player (without the HDMI Audio Extractor).
• Then check the connection of the cable/plug between the HDMI Audio Extractor and the TV
set/monitor or Blu-ray player. Replace damaged cables.
An appropriate HDMI cable must be used for 3D or 4K resolution.
• To play back copy-protected films, the TV set/monitor should support HDCP standard.
• The resolution (or colour depth) of the playback signal from the Blu-ray player is too high for
the TV set/monitor. The TV set/ monitor shows, for example the message "Mode not sup-
ported" or similar (signal is not supported).

• For the purpose of testing, use a shorter cable.
• The audio extractor can only function if energized. Therefore, check whether the 5V/DC (6)
port is properly connected and supplied with power. The display (4) must light up.
Handling
• Never use the product immediately after moving it from a cold room into a warm one. The
condensation that forms may damage the product under certain circumstances.
Allow the product to reach room temperature before connecting it to the power supply and
putting it into use. In some cases, this may take several hours.
• When setting up the product, make sure that the cables are neither kinked nor pinched.
• Always lay the cables so that nobody can trip over or become entangled in them. There is
a risk of injury.
Maintenance and cleaning
The product does not require any maintenance and should never be disassembled for any
reason. Any maintenance or repair work may only be performed by an expert.
Disconnect the product from the power supply before cleaning.
The outside of the housing should only be cleaned with a clean, soft, dry cloth. Do not use
aggressive cleaning agents or chemical solvents. This could damage the case (discolouration)
or impair its function.
Dust can easily be removed using a clean, long-bristle brush and a vacuum cleaner.
Disposal
Electronic devices are recyclable materials and do not belong in the household
waste. Dispose of an unserviceable product in accordance with the relevant statu-
tory regulations.
