NOTE
(2) The location of the horizontal vent termination on an exterior wall
must meet all local and national building codes, and must not be
easily blocked or obstructed, see page 24.
(3) For installations requiring a vertical rise on the exterior of the
building, Snorkel Kit SLK-SNRD, 14" (35.5cm) or 36" (91cm) tall
snorkel terminations are available. Follow the same installation
procedures as used for standard horizontal terminations. If the
snorkel termination must be installed below grade (i.e. basement
application), proper drainage must be provided to prevent water from
entering the snorkel termination. Do not backfill around snorkel
termination.
Step 4.
Position the horizontal vent termination in the center of the 10" x 10"
(25.4cm x 25.4cm) square hole and run a bead of non-hardening mastic
around its outside edges, so as to make a seal between it and the wall,
attach termination cap to the exterior wall with the four wood screws
provided. The arrow on the vent cap should be pointing up (Fig. 7)..
(NOTE: If you are installing Termination Cap HHW2, the pipe will be off
center on the flashing). Ensure that proper clearances to combustible
materials are maintained.
NOTES:
(1) The four wood screws provided should be replaced with appropriate
fasteners for stucco, brick, concrete, or other types of sidings.

Firestops are REQUIRED on both sides of a combustible wall
through which the vent passes. SLK-01TRD is recommended
because the exterior firestop in built in. Position the firestops on
both sides of the hole previously cut and
secure the firestops with nails or screws. The
heat shields of the firestops MUST be placed
towards the top of the hole (Fig. 8-A, page
26). C
If you are using Simpson Dura-vent
termination cap #985 on a building with vinyl
siding, a vinyl siding standoff (Simpson Dura-
vent Part #950), should be installed between
the vent cap and the exterior wall (Fig. 8-B,
page 26). Attach the vinyl siding standoff
to the horizontal vent termination. The vinyl
siding standoff prevents excessive heat from
possibly melting the vinyl siding material. Vent terminal shall not be
recessed into a wall or siding. Remove siding from behind area of
standoff.
Step 5.
Slide the stove and vent assembly towards the wall, carefully inserting
the vent pipe into the vent cap assembly. It is important that the vent pipe
extend into the vent cap a sufficient distance so as to result in a minimum
pipe overlap of 1¼" (32mm). Secure the connection between the vent
pipe and the vent cap by attaching the two sheet metal strips extending
from the vent cap assembly into the outer wall of the vent pipe. Use
the two sheet metal screws provided to connect the strips to the pipe
section. (Fig. 9, page 26).
Note: The attachment from the vent pipe to the vent cap must be sealed
with silicone. Venting terminals shall not be recessed into a wall or
siding.
REMARQUE

(3) Pour les installations s'élevant sur le mur extérieur du bâtiment,
un ensemble de schnorchels n° SLK-SNRD et les extrémités cor-
respondantes de 35,5 cm (14 po) ou de 91 cm (36 po) sont disponibles.
Suivez les mêmes procédures d'installation que pour les sorties
horizontales standard. Si l'extrémité du schnorchel doit être installée en
dessous du niveau du sol (installation en sous-sol), un drainage adéquat
doit être effectué pour empêcher l'eau de pénétrer dans le schnorchel.
Ne bouchez pas l'espace entourant le schnorchel.
Étape 4.
Placez la sortie de l'évent horizontale au centre de l'orifice carré de
25,4 cm x 25,4 cm (10 po x 10 po). Appliquez ensuite du mastic non
durcissant sur le pourtour, de manière à créer un joint étanche entre
l'évent et le mur. Fixez le capuchon d'évent au mur extérieur à l'aide
des quatre vis à bois fournies. La flèche figurant sur ce capuchon doit
pointer vers le haut (fig. 7). (REMARQUE: Si vous installez le capuchon
d'évent HHW2, le tuyau sera décentré par rapport au solin.) Veillez
à bien respecter les dégagements requis par rapport aux matériaux
combustibles.
REMARQUES: (1) Les quatre vis fournies doivent être remplacées par
des fixations spécifiques lorsque vous percez du stuc, de la brique, du
béton ou d'autres types de revêtements.
2) Les coupe-feu sont OBLIGATORIES de chaque côte d'un mur
combustible traversé par un système de ventilation. SLK-01TRD est
recommandé parce que le firestop extérieur dedans incorporé. Placer les
coupe-feu de chaque côté du trou et les clouer ou
les visser. Les écrans thermiques des coupe-feu
DOIVENT se trouverau sommet du trou (fig. 8-A,
page 26). Faire passer le condut de ventilation
dans les coupe-feu. REMARQUE: Il ne doit y avoir
AUCUNE ISOLATION ou d'autrecombustibles à
l'intérieur de l'ouverture de coupe-feu
cette protection à la sortie de l'évent horizontal.
La protection empêche qu'une trop forte chaleur
fasse fondre le revêtement en vinyle. La sortie de
l'évent ne doit pas être encastrée dans un mur ou dans le revêtement.
Avant de poser la protection, enlevez le revêtement qui se trouve
en dessous.
Étape 5.Poussez le poêle et l'évent vers le mur en insérant doucement le
tuyau d'évent dans son capuchon. Il est important que ce tuyau dépasse
d'au moins 32 mm (1¼ po) à l'intérieur du capuchon. Fixez le capuchon
au tuyau d'évent en attachant les deux bandes métalliques sortant
du capuchon à la paroi extérieure du tuyau d'évent. Utilisez les deux
vis à tôle fournies pour fixer ces bandes à la section de tuyau (fig.
9, page 26).
Remarque: Le raccord entre le tuyau et le capuchon d'évent doit être
scellé avec du silicone. Les évents ne doivent pas être encastrés dans
le mur ou dans un revêtement.
