Cleaning
First, turn off the docking station and extract the inserted hard disk, if necessary.
Disconnect the wall plug transformer from the mains socket.
Use a clean, dry soft cloth for cleaning. Do not use any aggressive cleaning agents
as these may result in discolouration of the enclosure.
Tips & Notes
a) USB3.0
• USB3.0 devices are downward compatible. This means that the USB3.0 docking
station with the SATA hard disk plugged into it also functions on USB2.0 or slower
USB1.1 ports, though only at the maximum USB2.0 or USB1.1. speed.
• Depending on the hard disk in your computer and the hard disk plugged into the
USB3.0 docking station as well as the motherboard, USB3.0 supports speeds even
higher than 100MByte/s!
• For USB3.0 the cable should be selected as short as possible to avoid reduction of
transfer speed.
• To connect the USB3.0 docking station to a USB3.0 port of your computer, you must
use a USB3.0 cable (e.g., the one included in the delivery scope).
If you use a conventional USB2.0/1.1 cable, only the max. speed supported by
USB2.0/1.1 can be achieved and not the transmission speed supported by the
USB3.0 cable.
• If the USB docking station is to be connected via a USB hub, it must also support
the USB3.0 transfer mode!
b) General
• Always treat hard disks with care. Impacts during operation (also for a few seconds
after switching off) may cause the write/read head to touch the magnetic disk, which
destroys the hard disk!
Hence, wait for at least 30 seconds after turning off the docking station before
extracting the hard disk from the docking station.
• Do not move the docking station/hard disk drive when it is switched on.
• The docking station must be placed on a stable surface free from vibrations.
• The LED at the front lights up when the docking station is switched on (Power LED
function) or it flashes during read/write accesses.
Handling
• Only use in dry indoor locations. The product must not get damp or wet!
Danger of a lethal electric shock!
• When setting up the product, make sure that the cables are neither
kinked nor pinched.
• Avoid the following unfavourable ambient conditions at the installation-
location and during transport:
- Excessive humidity or damp
- Extreme cold (<0°C) or heat (>45°C), direct sunlight,
- Dust or flammable gases, fumes or solvents
- Strong vibrations, impacts or blows,
- Strong magnetic fields such as those found close to machinery or loud-
speakers
• Never use the product immediately after it has been taken from a cold room
to a warm one. The condensation that forms might destroy your unit. The
mains adapter also poses the risk of an electric shock!
Allow the product to reach room temperature, before connecting it to the
power supply and putting it in to use. This may take several hours.
• Ensure that the insulation for the entire product is neither damaged nor
destroyed.
• Check the product for damage before each use!
If you detect any damage, DO NOT connect the product to the mains sup-
ply! This presents a danger to life!
• It can be assumed that safe operation is no longer possible if
- the device is visibly damaged,
- the device does not operate any longer and
- the device has been stored under unfavourable conditions for a long
period of time or
- it has been subjected to considerable stress during transportation.
• Any maintenance or repair work must only be carried out by authorised
personnel.
Disposal
Please dispose of the product, when it is no longer of use, according to the
current statutory requirements.
