DCF Time Adjustment
• After the batteries are inserted, the clock searches automatically for the DCF signal. This is
indicated by the fl ashing DCF symbol (aerial symbol) on the top right in the display.
• Normally, this synchronisation process is completed within a few minutes.
• As soon as the DCF signal is decoded, the DCF icon will appear continuously and the current
time and date are shown in the display.
• To cancel the reception attempt, press the UP and DOWN buttons simultaneously for approx.
3 seconds, until the DCF icon goes out and the display shows "-:--".
This might be useful if you live outside the DCF reception range, or if the DCF recep-
tion is restricted due to other circumstances.
In that case, you can adjust the clock manually as described further down in this
operating manual.
• In normal mode, the clock starts an hourly reception attempt at night between 01.00 AM and
05.00 AM. If the signal is not received, the DCF icon disappears.
• To start a manual reception attempt, press the UP and DOWN buttons simultaneously for
approx. 3 seconds until the DCF icon fl ashes in the display.
• During summer time an "S" symbol appears below the DCF icon.
If there is interference with the reception of the DCF signal, try to fi nd a new location
and/or leave the clock near a window overnight.
At night the reception is better, so the clock is normally synchronized the next
morning.
Setting the Time Manually
If the DCF signal cannot be received, the time must be set manually.
If during the setting you do not press any buttons for more than 10 seconds, the
setting mode will automatically close.
• Press the MODE button, while the normal time is displayed, and keep it pressed until the
hours display blinks.
• Set the hours using the UP or DOWN buttons.
• Press the MODE button again. The minute display blinks.
• Set the minutes using the UP or DOWN buttons.
• Press the MODE button again.
• Now set the year, month and date as described above.
• Press the MODE button again to save the settings.
If you want to reactivate the DCF reception, press the UP and DOWN buttons simul-
taneously for approx. 3 seconds. This will start a new DCF reception attempt.
Setting the Language for the Weekday Display
• Press the DOWN button until the language selection appears in the weekday display.
• Keep the DOWN button pressed until the desired language is displayed and then release the
button immediately.
Adjustable languages:
EN = English
GE = German
FR = French
IT = Italian
SP = Spanish
DU = Dutch
Setting a differing time zone
If you live outside the normal DCF time zone but a DCF reception is possible, the time zone
can be set manually in the range of ±12 hours. Furthermore, you can use this function to set
the time of a second time zone.
• Press the UP button until an "F" symbol appears below the DCF icon.
• Press the MODE button, until the hours display fl ashes.
• Set the hours using the UP or DOWN buttons, as required.
• Press the MODE button to save the settings.
• To toggle between the time of the DCF time zone and the second time zone, press the UP
button until the display changes accordingly.
12/24 hour display
• Press the MODE button, until the hours display fl ashes.
• Set the display format for the time as desired, using the °F/°C button.
• Press the MODE button fi ve times to exit the setting mode and to save the setting.
Thermometer
The room temperature is indicated to the right, at the bottom of the display.
• Press the °C/°F button to switch between the display in °C and °F.
Moon phase display
The moon phase is indicated to the left of the temperature display.
Full moon is displayed as an empty circle and new moon as a fi lled circle.
Troubleshooting
By purchasing this radio wall clock, you have acquired a product with state-of-the-art design
that is operationally reliable.
Nevertheless, problems or faults may occur. Therefore, we would like to describe here how to
eliminate possible faults:
The clock does not synchronise or has only temporary reception:
• The distance to the DCF transmitter is too long or restricted by geographical conditions.
• Relocate the product. Switch off interfering devices such as TV sets, computers or microwave
ovens.
• Avoid a location in the vicinity of large metal surfaces, which may shield the radio signals.
Windows with a vapour deposited metal layer can also infl uence the signal reception.
• Place the clock near a window for synchronisation, and align the front or back side in the
direction of Frankfurt (Germany).
• Leave the clock switched on over night to avoid atmospheric interference.
The displayed temperatures are not correct:
• The clock is exposed to direct sunlight.
• The clock is located too close to a heat source (heater, electronic device, etc.).
The display shows distorted signs, the display is empty or the clock no longer reacts
to keystrokes:
• Remove the battery and insert it again after an interval of approx. 30 seconds. This will reset
the integrated microprocessor and the clock starts a new DCF reception attempt.
Maintenance and Care
Apart from replacing the battery, the device requires no maintenance. Only clean the exterior of
the product with a soft, dry cloth or brush.
Never use caustic cleaning agents or chemical solutions, as they could damage the surface
of the casing.
Do not press on the sensitive display surface.
Disposal
Electronic devices are recyclable waste materials and must not be disposed of in the
household waste!
Dispose of an unserviceable product in accordance with the relevant statutory regu-
lations.
Remove the battery if there is one inserted and dispose of it separately from the
product.
Disposal of used batteries/rechargeable batteries
As the end user, you are required by law (Battery Ordinance) to return all used batteries/
rechargeable batteries; disposal of them in the household waste is prohibited!
Batteries/rechargeable batteries containing harmful substances are marked with the
following symbols, which indicate that disposal in the domestic waste is prohibited.
The symbols of the relevant heavy metals are: Cd = Cadmium, Hg = Mercury, Pb
= Lead. You can return your used batteries/rechargeable batteries free of charge
to the offi cial collection points in your municipality or anywhere where batteries or
rechargeable batteries are sold.
You thereby fulfi l your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the environment.
